Spent 9.50 in Farm Foods on NYE, plus 11.53 in Asda today, 60.55 total so far this year. So tempted to spend every day but keep asking myself if i NEED anything and answer is usually no, whereas previously i would probably spent on at least 2-3 of the occasions already, so the Grocery Challenge is working for me i guess
Shouldn't need to buy any more food until the weekend now and will then just be another top-up

ASDA shop done today. £46.34 spent out of the £240 budget for the month. That was even with a £10 voucher so I think the target of £240 this month might be more of a struggle than I thought!
I shouldn't need anything else though until next Wednesday. Hopefully...10 -
1.25 spent on milk today...current balance is 1.25/300
Using freezer and fridge stockpiles still. Yesterday and today I had batch veggie soup defrosted from the freezer for lunches. For dinner yesterday we had Air fryer chicken thighs using a few different storecupboard spices to marinade served with swede mash from the freezer and cabbage.
Today's dinner was stir fry using leftover tofu with more of the cabbage and a handful of frozen carrots, mangetout and edamame beans from the freezer, gochugang sauce and soba noodles :-)Grocery Challenge Jan 24 0/300

First spend of the month at Tesco today £63.48 so my current balance is 63.48/ 350.Purchased mainly fridge stuff, toilet rolls, kitchen rolls, bread and potatoes. Freezers still full and cupboards pretty full as well. Nothing really interesting for food today. Omelette for lunch made with cheese tomato’s and spring onions and leftover ham with chips for tea. Plan to make some leak and potatoe soup tomorrow and maybe do some baking.12

How many days in a row is a batch cook of lasagna acceptable?!Batch cooking is my go to at the moment. Next week is based on Asia. I have realised I am picking regions/cuisines. Problem previously is I don’t know what I fancy so then pop into the shop and peruse. I do not want to do that now and with a few twists/cupboard and freezer add ons I’m satisfying tweaking things to
what I fancy anyway and keeping away from those cheeky shops. Tomorrow night I will check the online weekly shop due on Fri. I am thinking about more meat free meals for a few reasons but also budget wise. 🤔Emergency Fund: 1000/2000August Grocery Challenge: 97/550

Thank you all for your tips for fish cakes without parsley. I was determined to make do and ended up using 2 medium potatoes, 2 tins tuna, a small red onion finely chopped, 1 dspn of mayonnaise and 1 tspn mustard with a little salt all mashed together. I formed mixture into shape and coated with hm bread crumbs made from slightly ood bread. This made 5 but I could easily have made each one a bit smaller. They were really tasty.craft stash 2023 =161, 2024 = 119 2025 = £25.96 spent, 128 made and 5 mended,

Evening all. We had our first spend of the year yesterday at M & S. £24.30 spent on strawberries, bananas, clementines, YS pineapple spears, red peppers, parsley, carrots, coffee, even more yoghurt, and olive oil spray. I'm going to try not throwing so many sloshes of olive oil around either this year and see how that treats my waistline.
@wannalot you reminded me that Morrisons sent us a free delivery pass offer valid until 23/1 so I put in an order last night. The cart total was about £49.00 and I'm shocked at how little we're getting for that amount. The order arrives Friday morning so I'll update my total then.
£24.30 / £330 spent. £305.70 remaining
On Saturday I'm going to visit a butcher stock up on meat for the month. Hopefully I can get out of there for £40 and then keep my hands to myself for the rest of the following week.
