But short of sending a courier down to force Barclays to hand over the money,

    Strong arm man required? :)

I requested three isa transfers into my virgin isa in late November. Two went through within 48 hours - the other from Yorkshire BS has still not happened.
Clearly there are some communication issues between the two. Perhaps its time I raised a complaint too!

Oh crumbs! Does any  Financial Provider anywhere not have problems with ISA transfer? One of my ISAs is with YBS....

Apropos of this, I opened an online access ISA with Leeds BS shortly before Christmas and requested a partial transfer in from my Skipton - I've been a Leeds member for years but despite on line opening, still required to post them an ISA transfer form - needless to say, transfer still awaited....

Tried to transfer an ISA from LLoyd's Bank elsewhere. 4 attempts (to two different banks) were each rejected despite despite all the information being correct, and Lloyd's saying they dealt with electronic transfers. Eventually, after being told by several Lloyds staff that they had never received the transfer requests but the other banks having received rejections, it turns out they have a longstanding and known ab out bug in their system which automatically rejects certain transfer requests immediately. For those customers paper transfer requests have to be sent.

Arrgh! Note to self - don't open Lloyds ISA!

One of the two other isa transfers were with Skipton - so they are very efficient. YBS and Virgin are it seems a problematic mix.

YBS say they have received no communication from Virgin. Virgin wrote me a letter saying YBS had declined the transfer claiming some time delay issue. Virgin are now going to try it again. Who can say where the fault lies?

Given the transfer is into a fixed isa paying 5.85% - its worth doing given the recent fall in fixed rates! So I will keep pursuing it.

  • My ISA has finally transferred today. I will be doing a complaint later to Barclays about the decline first time.

So that's 10 (ish) working days after maturity? Isn't that about the usual timeframe (my first ISA hits maturity tomorrow so no experience) so should see something happening next week.

There isn't a usual timeframe - have a read through this thread and others and you'll see the variation.

It'll be interesting to me to see how your transfer goes - I have to say that despite having had ISAs since inception and dealt with a number of providers,  I'm beginning to get intimations of doom.....

Electronic cash ISA transfers are usually quite fast. The last I did, which was quite a few years ago, was completed within 3 working days.
