said that the "accept penalty charges" was not ticked and so I said doesn't that imply then that it was upon maturity! She said no they'd requested ASAP and to ask Virgin for proof of what they requested, unfortunately when I asked her if she could send what she could see as proof, she said no. I then contacted Virgin and was told that they had requested for it to be sent upon maturity and would get the ISA Team to provide me evidence of this, the first gentleman said that he thought Virgin sent the actual transfer form that the customer completes (which I took a photo as proof).

Then your way should be clear for a polite (but stinging) complaint .....
  • People whos ISA transfers happened correctly, did you apply for your Virgin account within 15 days of the maturity date? I'm wondering if this is what is causing the problems as Barclays explained the 15 day rule and I pointed out that if upon maturity then the 15 days starts from then.
Opened & requested transfer on 12 Dec, Barclays ISA maturity date 30 December. Definitely ticked that "on maturity" box.

I note that today is 15 working days since 12 December....

I opened my Virgin ISA and requested a transfer from Barclays on 2 Dec. The Barclays ISA matured on 19 Dec and the transfer went through on 21 Dec.

My Barclays ISA matured in December and I've completed the transfer to Cynergy (full balance) with no issues other than delays due to the many holidays in between.
I've noticed however, that the Barclays ISA has been kept open with a £0 balance. Is this right? I thought it would have been closed after a full transfer.

My Barclays ISA went from 4% Fixed, Easy Access, EA with zero balance, all during yesterday. Today I've received a statement for each ISA both showing a final closed balance.

The ISA has been removed from my account list (at least in the app).

    Apropos of my post

    https://forums.moneysavingexpert.com/discussion/comment/80490356/#Comment_80490356

concerning my Skipton /Leeds transfer, this completed today (advised by e-mail by both Skipton and Leeds).

The funds left Skipton this morning and arrived in Leeds this pm.

Considering the postal application required (posted 21/12) and the Christmas/New Year bank holidays, not bad at all!
  • I too am attempting to transfer money out of Barclays to both VM and STB. the transfer requests went in on 18th Dec for a maturity date of 9th Jan. So far they have been rejected 5 times. Each time I call it is for a different reason, The last being that my street address was on 2 lines instead of one. Previously they rejected as the street said Gr instead of Grove, The receiving banks have confirmed that this is not the case and have sent me copies(screenshots) of the applications. The people at Barclays are clowns, or they are deliberately obfuscating the transfer to hold on to the money. I have them red handed lying to me. (I record all calls). A complaint has been raised, am looking forward to involving the FO to see what they make of this

I think that you might be well advised to wait until the Barclays account shows as instant access in on line  banking.

This is what I intend to do.

And then they'll reject it because you didn't respond to the text they didn't send, asking you to authorise it if it's more than 50k.

We'll have to see what happens - the amount is not over £50k.

Of course, even if it were, the authority to "pull"  (transfer) given to the recipient organisation should be sufficient.
