If the rates had doubled would that be OK?

    That's a straw man.
If you are an E7 customer (and you have declined to answer that either), your composite rate hasn't changed.

  • Here are my rates, which as I have already said are irrelevent to the question I asked.
But happy calculating as the extra I would be paying if the rates and usage stay the same would be £103 per year, man

So now you have the info you so desparately want please explain:

"Did under OFGEM rules Octopus need to contact me to explain my rates would be increasing"

I'd suggest that E7 is the wrong tariff for your usage. You should be using about 60% off-peak to compensate for the higher day rate.

I was on a rate with Avro that my electric was 15.45p per kWh and the gas 2.54p per kWh with SC's of 16.8p per day. Any tariff the person is on with the old supplier doesn't stay the same with the new supplier they put them on the SVR tariff. My monthly electric bill increased by about £7 per month and the gas by about £11 per month as it was winter.
Someone please tell me what money is

Yes, you're probably correct that I now no longer need E7 and should consider moving to a single rate tariff.

My overall usage has dropped last year and will continue to drop this year, because an electrically heated annex is no longer being used.

It could save you even more money if you look at the range of TOU (time of use) tariffs. You would need a smart meter to access them but the savings can be significant. In my last billing period I paid an average of just over 12p/kWh.

The issue I have with a smart meter is I live in an area with a very poor mobile signal.

If that was on the Octopus tracker tariff that has increased since 15th February, then its probably best to highlight that. Although I do agree people should look at these TOU tariffs and even the new formula since 15/2 could be significantly better for many compared to the SVT.

I believe what has happened to you is exactly what I pointed out happened to me on Page 1.
It looks from those figures that you are in the Eastern region and have been put on the Non - Direct Debit Tariff, which is slightly higher than the Direct Debit Tariff for that region.
