I changed my gas elect supply from Shell to octopus on Nov 17 2023 (Before they sold out to Octopus) my last bill from Shell was Oct 14 to nov 17 2023 but from Oct 1 when price should have gone down Shell have ignored that and charged me on the old rate because they say I haven't been on the new tariff for 60 days or more so they ignore ofgem and carry on charging at old rate which just happens to be more expensive.
Is this correct and can Shell just overcharge you and make even more profit if it is correct why do we need ofgem ????

Now we are being hawked to TALKTALK, a company I was glad to get away from. I've just heard there is a MAJOR problem in the W.S.M area. People have had NO internet connection for over 1 week. the sooner I find a better supplier the better .0

"TalkTalk already serves the former Shell customers through its wholesale platform, meaning the deal will not inflate its customer base of about four million people"

Well, looks like I got moved from Shell to Octopus at the weekend, haven't had a 'welcome' email yet but when I went to download this months bill from Shell, I was told I had been moved to Octopus and needed to set my password up over there, which I duly did.
Having a look round their site, our bill wasn't ready yet but I did notice the tariff they were displaying for us was slightly high. I found the pdf documents for their tariff rates and it appears we had been assigned the slightly more expensive Non-Direct Debit rate. We used to pay by DD with Shell, so I thought maybe it's not fully set up yet so I'll just keep an eye on it.
This morning the Smart Meter had a 'Welcome From Octopus Message' on it, I checked the Tariff on the meter and it was the higher non-dd one . Logged into their site and our bill was ready, oh dear, quite a few errors on it.
The bill says on it: "As you have no Direct Debit in place, your balance is due for payment in 14 days."
The Tariff payment method states: "Payment Method: Direct Debit"
The Unit rates (we are E7) and standing charge are shown without VAT, but when VAT is added the unit rates calculate to be the Direct Debit rates (contrary to what their website is still showing and our smart meter has been set to). The Standing charge though calculates to the Non-DD rate. So I have DD Rate tariff and Non-DD rate standing charge.
Their calculations for the Standing charge is shown as 35 days @ 48.7p apparently = £15.37. Well that's wrong, it should calculate to be £17.045.
Luckily we are only being overcharged about £10 at the moment. I emailed them the details, I'm sure it will be all ok and painless.
Anyone else have similar?

Following my move from Shell to Octopus my SVR tariff rates have increased, i.e. Octopus rates are higher than the Shell rates.
I did NOT get any communications from Octopus that the rates were going to be higher.
Is this legal / within regulator rules?

Maybe you have experienced the same as me, my SVR with Shell was:
Day Rate: 37.2750
Night Rate: 15.7780
Standing Charge: 45.65
Octopus SVR Rates for the South East are:
Paying By Direct Debit - same as I was paying with Shell (these have been rounded to 2 decimal places)
Day Rate: 37.28
Night Rate: 15.78
Standing Charge: 45.65
non-Direct Debit (what Octopus have assigned to me)
Day Rate: 38.04
Night Rate: 16.48
Standing Charge: 51.13
