Using Chase as donor/dummy accounts for Current Account Switching

  • How long after opening a Chase account and scheduling the first payment can you make a successful bank switch?
I opened a Chase account, same day I opened second account and used that straight away for switching.
Wow, and it went through ok? So you only had an opening balance in there with 1 day activity?
Yes, soon as account opened transferred money into it, Chase also lets you know that the accounting is switching out as there's a countdown in days.
You don't even have to deposit any money to switch an account.

It's handy to know that the transfer has been successful. so always be a few pence in.

Blimey I wish I'd known about this Chase hack earlier. Dummy account opened in 30 seconds for Natwest switch incentive.
  • Hi Guys.
I am in the process of switching my only chase account to first direct at the moment.
I have just seen this thread and did not know you can have more than one account.
Will it be okay for me to now open a 2nd account with chase so that when my primary account switches to first direct next week i still have a chase account remaining for later switches.
I think what im asking is can i do this in reverse to how everyone else here has done it.Can i  switch my main account and then open a 2nd account before it goes through. I have already started the process of switching my main account.

Yes, open another in the app. Next to "current accounts" there is an add button.

Yes. Do this quickly before the switch completes. Otherwise Chase won't let you open any more accounts with them again in future

Apparently Chase are sending out messages to people saying that they will close their accounts if they continue to open accounts and then switch away straight after again.

I just opened an additional account and they didn't mention anything. Are these messages targeted? I haven't switched recently, I've run out of banks to switch to.

I've just done exactly this and received no warning message.

Before I do it again, could you quote the source of this warning?

    OK, found it.

  • I wonder if part of the issue here with Chase is more the immediacy of how quickly some people are switching away from these additional accounts after creating them… in other words, perhaps it might be better to create these additional accounts 'on spec' so as to be ready to use them many months or indeed years down the line?
