So who do you think you are Octopus?

No risk at all of someone signing up to switch to Octopus who qualifies for a sign up referral (not been a customer during previous 12 months and not moved into a property already supplied by Octopus) due to Octopus unusually allowing retrospective referrals to be claimed.MultiFuelBurner said:
To add to the reply by @Spoonie_Turtle I once had a conversation with Octopus about this and they do limit how many a person can refer in a year with the exception of those that add a service to Octopus customers such as those individuals as mysmartenergy and similar.mjm3346 said:There are lots of Octopus codes on line offering a £75 £25 split in flavour of the new customer, some even higher
So the risk is getting nothing trying to earn £25 more
Always check with friends and family and then neighbours. it's always nicer to share that way that with a stranger.

I don't think you read my response here correctly we were talking about the people out there that offer an additional £25 back.on the initial £50 and that Octopus do have a soft limit on referrals of 12 a year. So the risk (as small as it may be is using these habitual referers means the referee may not get their £50)bristolleedsfan said:

I have read Octopus T+C on the subject, no evidence anywhere that those who offer referral splits getting treated any differently to those who do not.MultiFuelBurner said:

Again missing the point there is a max someone can hand out their code and it be used as you have found. As these much touted extra £25 back deals are I would suggest ones that would reach that max and then no one gets anything.bristolleedsfan said:

I am not disputing that they can give £25 or £50.back but as the referral code is used multiple times the risk is the person using it won't get £50 as the referee has reached their max.
Not disputing the £25 lol
Anyway we have diluted this post enough 👍1 -
We supposedly merged over from shell
Everything was hunky dory until then , now we have a bill of £4500 (plus we paid £2500 in last12 months), keep asking what the hells going on , just keep getting the same answers,
Promised call backs,(that never happen) ask someone higher up or technical ,they haven't got a clue,,,,,,,0 -
Perhaps start a new post @ozzie652 and it’ll make it easier for all the helpful folks on here to get to the bottom of this. Is heating and DHW gas or electric? An idea of what your usage in kWh has been since the solar panels were installed and compared to before would be helpful.ozzie652 said:We supposedly merged over from shell

Pretty sure they've had responses on another thread; the thinking seems to be it's probably a CT clamp installed the wrong way for the solar so the meter is registering export as import from the grid.DougMLancs said:

The CT clamp issue is normally because it confuses something like a battery or solar diverter into charging/discharging/heating when it shouldn’t though? We don’t know if anything like that is fitted. It could be an immersion heater stuck on boost. We don’t really have the needed information and I’ve seen them post on at least 3 other threads which will make it harder to refer to any relevant information.Smart Tech Specialist with Octopus Energy Services (all views my own). 4.44kW SW Facing in-roof array with 3.6kW Givenergy Gen 2 Hybrid inverter and 9.5kWh Givenergy battery. 9kW Panasonic Aquarea L (R290) ASHP. #gasfree since July ‘230

We tried to get them to fit a smart meter since we were moved over from shell. What a farce, the drop down menu when I was logged on to my account gave loads of dates and times but every one I tried just said ...oops something has gone wrong so I called them. They tried themselves and said oops it's not working. We will investigate and contact you. Got fed up after yet another month waiting. Contacted them again. They asked me to give them a suitable date and time for them to come so I did. Still nothing. Contacted them again and was told they had booked date and time requested. So waited in. Guess what they did not turn up.
Contacted them again they said they had only requested an engineer and booking was not a confirmation.
We are now in the process of moving to another supplier!
Their radio add about how great customer service is makes me laugh.😃0 -
This is indeed the problem with posting across different threads but I'm sure they said they have solar.DougMLancs said:The CT clamp issue is normally because it confuses something like a battery or solar diverter into charging/discharging/heating when it shouldn’t though? Ah yes https://forums.moneysavingexpert.com/discussion/comment/80848059/#Comment_80848059
The problem (seems to have?) started after having a smart meter installed. I have no idea if a CT clamp would have to be removed and put back on for the smart meter fitting, or if not whether it would have affected a non-smart meter before. But that thread is where that possibility was first raised, anyway.0
