There are lots of Octopus codes on line offering a £75 £25 split in flavour of the new customer, some even higher

They are dodgy though.  They're not offering a different split, they still get the £50 credit they just offer to pay you extra.  They would need your payment details to pay you anything over the £50 Octopus credit; I would steer well clear.

Individuals who hope to gain £50 for themselves referring people who are not members of their family or friends known personally to them always say that.

To add to the reply by @Spoonie_Turtle I once had a conversation with Octopus about this and they do limit how many a person can refer in a year with the exception of those that add a service to Octopus customers such as those individuals as mysmartenergy and similar.

So the risk is getting nothing trying to earn £25 more

Always check with friends and family and then neighbours. it's always nicer to share that way that with a stranger.

I wouldn't give my bank details to some stranger on the internet. Asking for trouble.

Best to use codes from regular Youtube people, who give good information, like Gary Does Solar.

You don't need to give bank details to any stranger, or even your friend/neighbour, you just give the code to Octopus.

You do if they are giving part of their share. Yes, the "straight" Octopus scheme is anonymous, except you see the person's name. Unless the name was particularly unusual it isn't a risk.

When I switched to Octopus, I used a code from a forum member (sharing was allowed then). They gave me half of their £50. I just sent them my PayPal email address and they sent it across.

Most offer Paypal option just need to give email address, some offer amazon option.

If it was so dodgy begs question why do  Octopus allow customers to offer referral splits using its name and/or branding on Facebook and Twitter -  Public · 2.9K members - Public · 1K members  -  Public · 4.4K members ( I know customers have complained over years about that particular customer twitter name breaching Octopus referral terms nothing was done)

Too much admin and that admin would affect their core business. So let it go.
