Hello! I've been lurking in the 2023 thread, waiting for the 2024 one to start :)
12K is a bit of a stretch for me (we're also trying to overpay our mortgage) so my goal will be a little more achievable £1200 please!
Personally, I’d count mortgage overpayments within this challenge. So overpaying the mortgage shouldn’t be limiting your ability to save as it is a form of saving in itself.

If you wanted to get even more technical; as well as counting the overpayments when they’re initially made, you could also take into account the accumulated monthly interest you save from your overpayments made over the year. Somewhat inverse tracking of when you earn interest when you’ve got cash sat in a savings account earning interest.

Could you put me down for £23k please? If I can keep #14 that would be great, but don't worry if not!

Interesting! I didn't think of it that way. I was thinking more 'a pot of £x', but you're right. The money we are paying onto the mortgage is money we would otherwise pop in a savings pot.

Okay! Make my goal total £12,000!
