    Worth spending to get the roof sorted you would have had to do it eventually and prices are only going to go up. That is what an emergency fund is for so you now have time to build up again for another big expense. Hope he gets someone to help with the work and the weather stays calm it is horrible here.

  • Nearly all roof damage will get progressively worse - and if it leaks you could get serious water damage.  The sooner it's fixed, the less it will cost you.  Making sure the roof was sound and water-tight was the very first thing we did when we moved in and I am very grateful the house has remained dry - particularly last night when we had torrential rain... again 😆

    It's a good decision.

    - When bought house £315,995 mortgage debt and end date at start = October 2039 - now £219,071
    - OPs to mortgage = £17,793 Estd. interest saved = £9,021 to date
    c. 16 months reduction in term
    Fixed rate 3.85% ends October 2030
