Great result on the pension growth!
Good luck with the admin stuff, it's all tedious isn't it.

Great progress on the admin associated with updating addresses.
I prefer my cat to stay at home when we are away and we found a cat sitter on a site called Pawshake. We met them in advance and then they came in daily to feed the cat and did extra bits like put the bins out and water plants. They communicated well with photos and updates of the cat each day which was nice. Might be worth seeing if there is anyone registered near you.3 -
Thanks Jwil and Blackcats
That's a great suggestion on the cat.
A roofer woke me at 8am to say they'd be round in an hour. I wasn't impressed. Apparently I'd spoken to him yesterday - but I will have said after 9am - i.e. there's no need to wake me up!! I only got to sleep after 2am so not the best. Having porridge now - will try and take meds earlier too - and maybe that will help me sleep earlier tonight.
It's all misty outside but pretty.
I've updated my v5 - but when I tried to ring P1p they aren't open yet. They are so stuck in the dark ages. You can't update your address online for them. It's utterly ridiculous. Last time I rang they cut me off.
I've just cancelled my hospital appointment. I can't face it. That will make tomorrow a little easier. I had to leave a voicemail but that means they may call me back which I'd rather they didn't.
My latest blood tests were all fine. My roofer arrived before I could ask for a copy of my medical records - so I think I'll just call back another day.
A roofer has just been. They could do roof, guttering, sofits, fascias. The good news - the flat rooves are fine and they don't think there's any asbestos under the fascias - they say it is all just plywood - that's rotten. The flat roof over the garage they reckon would last 10 years - the one above the kitchen a little less. Most of my tiles are sound.
The bad news. Apparently I have birds in my rotten eaves... Like the surveyor recommended they say I need to have all the roof stripped and relaid on new felt as it has perished. None of my ridge tiles are held on in any way - and some don't match - they would recommend new ridge tiles and then some special edging to keep the felt etc in place and guide the water run off. They say at the gable ends the roof is collapsing a bit - not totally sure what they meant. The gang plate on the roof truss - they could sort that for me - they say it's a minute issue that they wouldn't even charge separately for. They say my gable ends need ties and supports. Will see what the quote comes back like. They would require scaffolding. He read my surveyor's report on the roof as I let him see it - so he could just be quoting that back at me. They showed me photos - but obviously they didn't mean a lot to me.
He said even if I don't go with their quote I can ring him with questions - and to make sure the quotes are like for like. All I heard were cash registers going kerching!! Feels like even if I regretted it when he called at 8am - that I made the right choice in asking for quotes on that before other stuff.

Some good and some bad news on the roof but sounds like you have got someone who is interested and could be very helpful. I have no experience of roofs but if all the houses are built at the same time you can usually see around you if people have had theirs changed as an indications yours might need it too. Around here all from late 1980's and no one had had any changes made apart from extension/velux etc but no replacements. I have had ridge tiles fly off before in the storms but that is quite normal I believe. You just have to wait for the report and try not to panic until you see the price. Hope you can cope for the rest of the day with your lack of sleep.Save £12k in 25 No 49

First drive way quote is in at £5.4-7.3K depending on how wide I go and what materials I use. I'll get some more quotes - but that is lower priority than resolving the roof, guttering, sofits and fascias. I need to know how much that is - and whether I'm also likely to have to replace the patio door or not or whether it is fixable - with just some replacement glass and improvements to the slider mechanism. Then I have an ever growing list of other fixes and desirables.
Finished early again today - but at some point I'll have to catch up my hours so not great. I'm in the office tomorrow - so that's good I'll show my face, have some social and have some more input into what needs doing - and hopefully that will then lend me fresh impetus.Achieve FIRE/Mortgage Neutrality in 2030

My blood tests were virtually all in normal range so I was really happy with those results. 11 years ago when I was slimmer than I am now my cholesterol was 7.8 - now its down to 5.3 which while not ideal is much better than it's been. My liver is also happier than it's been in the past which was one of my worries - as I still get flare ups - and my B12 is within normal although at the lower end of that. At least it answers that question and won't keep nagging at me.Achieve FIRE/Mortgage Neutrality in 2030
