  • The other option is not to attach it and rake up the grass. If you are stopping to empty it you are task switching which can drain your energy faster. Unless of course, it’s a pattern you’re accustomed to. #asdfun

I agree that the change is so unsettling.  It's the fact that even if we survive the chop, we lose long standing colleagues and things won't be the same as they were before.

I love my macbook savingholmes.  It’s my second one, and I used the 12 months interest free option directly from apple.  But I'm also everything apple like ladywithaplan so I'm slightly biased.  You've reminded me that I do need to get around to selling my old one, as they always seem to keep some resale value.
I had one MacBook Pro for 9 years then another for 7 years (battery was v slow and i threw coffee  over it twice in 5 mins so keyboard was sticky so could log in as a guest but not myself!  ) now my 3rd is 3 years old and still running brilliantly -as is the battery - I travel with it constantly and use daily. My cost per day is this pretty good
I always buy their near top of the range .. yes not cheap but unlike their phones the battery etc last

I have an Apple Watch so I have to run a iPhone (this is where I could easily switch to Samsung etc) and AirPods that are 4 years old and great
I did have an iPad but haven’t committed to that spend again in years and part exchanged my old iPad on a purchase deal

I believe someone (Vodafone?) taking in old electronics for charity - or Apple will always take their old devices and wipe them

the food forest sounds lovely but yes I think get yourself job sorted first - you don’t need the stress especially at the moment
    DON'T BUY STUFF (from Frugalwoods)
No seriously, just don’t buy things. 99% of our success with our savings rate is attributed to the fact that we don’t buy things... You can and should take advantage of discounts.... But at the end of the day, the only way to truly save money is to not buy stuff.    Money doesn’t walk out of your wallet on its own accord.

Thanks Beanie, KK, WD, Jwil and LWAP

The fruit devices are a whole new eco system - and while I can see they offer benefits - especially for art - unless someone was willing to give me one to one training on them I think I'd find them frustrating too. I'm leaning more towards the Surface as it can operate like a tablet but has the full functionality of a laptop. However, my laptop currently works so will stick with tis for now. (Trying to repeat that like a mantra). I've also tried to say to myself - review again around Black Friday. Hopefully by then my job situation will be clearer and it would make me practice delayed gratification which there hasn't been enough of lately!

The view here is stunning. I watched misty clouds with almost downspouts work there way across the sky Saturday afternoon brining rain with them. I need to do more locally to make myself settle and explore here. Going for that drive Friday night helped. I need to get out more. One of my orchid's is flowering again - a huge white flower the size of the palm of my hand! That's something to be grateful right there. I want to continue doing things in the garden this week.

I'm a very messy person - and have created mess in the living room with the lawn mower stuff that's not yet assembled, the kitchen with empty boxes and the back garden with planters and pots scattered all over the small over-grown lawn as I empty things to put into the longer term new raised bed area. I've created half the raised bed bit along the back wall but belatedly realised that would limit any access to the upper terrace - so trying to resolve the upper terrace before I finish setting up and planting the lower one.

Tonight I have my art class - and need to work out exactly where I'm going before hand and will need to finish work early. I also need to find where I put my sketchpad and pencils as I've not used them in a very long while. Hopefully I'll meet some friendly people and start to find local friends.

I woke up in the night worrying about who was going to look after the cat while I'm away. I have offered family members the opportunity to stay here while I'm away and look after said cat but it's currently looking unlikely. I need them to commit one way or another and then make arrangements. That will be more £ to spend if none are willing to cat sit however which is unfortunate.
