Thankfully tonight's class was fun. It was good to get out of my own head for a while. It's only a small group. I liked the teacher. I knew one person from a previous art class elsewhere. I particularly liked another person. So potential for friendships there. We've set up a social media group already which is a great start and the teacher seems really committed and genuninely interested.Achieve FIRE/Mortgage Neutrality in 2030

I may post some art on here - but it is unlikely to be art also shared in class to help preserve anonymity. I did a small drawing in my journal which I shared in the class social group - but the teacher then made public observations - of what I should have done differently and I'm not sure how comfortable I am with that. However I was feeling really sensitive today so probably over reacted.
I started work slightly earlier today but ended up taking an hour lunch so still finished too early. Will try and log on earlier the rest of the week to compensate. I didn't end up going in - and I'm glad I didn't. I pulled up some weeds and did some watering at lunch as I was worried some of my pots were bone dry. It was glorious sunshine so I will need to top them up again. It was good to get outside but unfortunately I got nettled a few times on my palms.
It sounds like I may not know much more on the work situation for a month or two. If I get past age 55 and get made redundant - and I keep p1p I'd be fine financially as I'd get on-going pension and could use savings if needed to help bridge any gap. If I go before age 55 and they alter the terms to be the minimum it's a much worse financial position - especially if p1p also goes either as part of my own current review or the wider review. So many unknowns it's frying my brain. I'm grateful I didn't go ahead with the garage conversion and instead kept a full EF for now.
A specialist medical appointment to discuss scan results for a family member has been brought forward to Thursday so we're on tenterhooks for that. Someone else in the wider family has a 'routine' op next week. I struggle to separate myself from all that due to ASD... Everything feels like it's happening to me - rather than the other person. It makes being around / hearing others' stress more difficult.
I need to focus on what I can control. Tidying. The garden. Art. I need to batten down the hatches on my spending, send the max I can to pension and as Beanie says just keep plodding. Glad I've got my holiday booked as something to look forward to - but it's £ I might not have spent if I'd known about this beforehand. That said I think all but £350 is cancellable for another 2-3 weeks but I want it more than ever...Achieve FIRE/Mortgage Neutrality in 2030

I think the holiday is important and as you’ve said the garage is on hold for now.Sorry to hear about the further stress of a family member needing an op - it all seems to come at once doesn’t it ….
Perhaps you could ask the art teacher not to give you public correction in future but do it one to one?KKAs at 15.08.25:

Agree that you need the holiday more than ever to look forward to and you do have the EF for emergency reasons.3

Is it worth checking the exact terms of your pension if you are made redundant post age 55. Does your employer make up your pension to retirement age? Just wondering whether putting more into AVC's is of benefit in that situation or whether during the uncertain times it is better to focus on more cash based savings.Might be a good idea to chat to the art class teacher to explain how you prefer to receive feedback.
Agree that your holiday is a worthwhile investment in yourself!4
