DON'T BUY STUFF (from Frugalwoods)
No seriously, just don’t buy things. 99% of our success with our savings rate is attributed to the fact that we don’t buy things... You can and should take advantage of discounts.... But at the end of the day, the only way to truly save money is to not buy stuff. Money doesn’t walk out of your wallet on its own accord.

What fab progress with the handyman much better to have access to stuff and easier to get rid of it all now you have pictures so no excuses just list it and hopefully people can pick up at the weekend and you will feel so much better once it is gone.
As for the bamboo I agree it is quite boring like that. It would be much nicer to have stuff trailing down over the stones and if need some height at the back. I do like grasses obviously in the picture they are all brown and finished. If you cut them down the fresh green stuff will look so much better. You can rake through them like a brush to get all the brown bits out without damaging the new stuff. A few grases here and there can look good with other plants but if you do not like them then get rid. You could alway offer people to come and dig out for free they are very trendy now and saves you having to do it.

I had a good day Monday - but the handyman took to his bed Tuesday so no real progress since then. I attempted to hoover the living room Monday evening and moved loads of stuff out the way - and it's still there. I pretty much hoovered the room - but then I thought I'd move furniture around - and kind of got stuck as my energy ran out. It hasn't returned yet!!Achieve FIRE/Mortgage Neutrality in 2030

My stamina evaporated again. I was freezing cold all of Tuesday - possibly fighting off whatever bug the handyman has but warmed up slightly yesterday but not achieved anything more. Been watching some Narnia films and started listening to related books.
Today I had to be up early and travel to where I used to live for an (unrelated) hospital appointment. She felt I needed to extend my sick note and even then only got back a few part days of the week rather than all of them. After the appointment I nipped in a few shops to pick up a handful of items I haven't found here. I stopped at a cafe car park for a work call about my possible return. They'd be open to me starting back small but would potentially want me to be fully fit unreasonably quickly - so need to consider that some more. I had a salad in the cafe before heading the final bit home. I'm now utterly wiped.mark55man said:so pleased to see you are getting better - take your time recovering though - give yourself a back to work plan at home as well as work
I have a counselling appointment tomorrow so no doubt I'll discuss all of this in more detail then too.
Thanks all for caring. It really does give me a lift to see your responses.

Catch up: I moved to a house full of bodged jobs and urgent maintenance jobs but with amazing views. Had to fix the roof, gutters, soffits, fascias and pointing. Roughly 3 weeks after the move I ended up in hospital for 8 days. Now in the sixth week of being off sick. Hopefully I will get better soon. Hugely better than I was. DD is moving with her BF's family to be within about 20-30 minutes of me mid month with this being her nearest decent shopping town - so all change for her too. DS got a new, much better job with commission that he starts around end of May/early June.Achieve FIRE/Mortgage Neutrality in 2030

Glad to hear things are improving, try not to overdo it as it's still early days.
