It seems better to me to think of them as challenges rather than resolutions - coz if you even achieve part of a challenge then it feels better than breaking a resolution iyswim?

I will try to list mine but probably too many for anyone to read coz they may get bored well before the end :o:o:o

    Short term goals
    To stop drinking diet coke
To visit doctor's about loosing weight
To start using rowing machine (finally - had it for well over a year possibly even 2 :o)
To find part-time jobs for me & OH coz finances are in desperate need of it  but are both still too unwell for full-time yet :(
To get some money out of OH's house with his ex coz it will turn-around our financial situation in one fell swoop ;)
To go to car boot with loads of stuff we want to get rid of.
To get into a routine (but dd starting school should help that... hopefully )
To keep the house tidier - especially get more organised with kids' toys...
To get more control over food budget.

I think I'll just stop there and not do any mid-term or long term goals coz if I go on I'll definitely depress myself and probably others too :o

do you watch tv at all? because if you do thats the perfect time to exercise. get on the machine whilst watching corrie (you might need to put subtitles on to drown out the noise) and before you know it you've rowed for 30 mins!

Love this thread and have been pondering about my resolutions - see, last year I started off so well - moneysaving, freezing batch food, comping, clicking, de-cluttering and then somewhere along the way it all went up the wall. There's so much I would like to re-instate and change in my life that I look at the list and think by wanting so much I am setting myself up to fail again. But then I think that's the wrong way to think about it, I didn't fail, I just fell off the path for a while and now I am back on again. Some things stuck and are indelible changes and some just need a wee boot to come back again.

So I have big ones and lil ones and new ones and not so new ones and to write them all down would take an age. But they boil down to this
    1. Use all my resources as wisely as I can, be they my time, my money, my emotions, whatever.
    2. Be concious of everything I do - so much waste is caused by not being concious of what you're doing. Not asking yourself questions but throwing or buying or wasting.
    3. And to pat myself on the back rather than kicking myself up the butt - because when you sit down and look at all the good things we've done, regardless of how long we've done them for I think we're doing pretty good.

Ah look at me getting a bit right on and tree hugging LOL - have yourself a hug everyone, if you want one, and good luck in whatever you're tackling this year xx

well the water thing is going really well at the mo (i know its only the 4th!). im making sure that if i dont manage anything else, i make sure i fill by drink at least one bottle of water. at 750ml, thats a good half of my RDA. hopefully in time i'll be able to increase it, but even 750 ml is infinately better than how little i was drinking before :j

That's always been the plan but I've had to buy a hefty one coz I'm quite big :o:o:o
...so it has to be folded away in the corner of our bedroom coz that's the only place it can go and it tends to get boxed in by all the clutter that gets dumped infront of it - I WILL get there though :D

  • I didn't have losing weight on my list, as such, but couldn't eat for several days after the op. and still can only manage very dainty (love that word) portions, so despite little activity have lost half a stone. Surgeon said eat slowly, too, to avoid adhesions, and this has reminded me of something I knew but had forgotten: food takes about 20 minutes to reach your tum. If you bolt it down, you can easily overeat - you're full already, but the food is still heading downwards...

So here's a new resolution I'd like to add - portion control. DH is cooking lovely little meals, we're having half a jacket potato instead of one each, for example, it's enough for me, but he visits the breadbin if he wants. I could easily slip back to my whole potato habit - hope I don't.

Have not send off any poems, but on Monday a magazine with two of my poems in it arrived in the post, reminding me what a buzz it is to get published, so will definitely send off another batch before the end of this month. Feel free to nag me about this.

Ok, I'll cross off what I have done, leave what I am still working on. Thanks for bringing this post back up, I'd actually forgotten what mine were :o
[strike] Try the OS weightloss thread properly, see if I can pick up some ideas to help me loose weight, it's started coming off but then stopped[/strike]post when I can and have lost another 14lb since I posted my list
Try to stick to my £4000 for this year for certain things
[strike]Try to save money on grocery shopping, I already halved what I spent in 2007 but hope to do more[/strike] knocked another 1/4+ off :D
[strike]Stop cooking more than we need if it can't be frozen, dogs will hate me for this one!
Do more 'free' things with the boys[/strike]
[strike]Grow more outside in pots, I managed lettuce and strawberries this year[/strike] spuds and carrots started
Keep the garden nice, not one of my strong points!
[strike] Make an effort to reduce our waste further, recycle as much as possible [/strike] council helping by providing cardboard and plastic recycling :D
Do more things to earn 'free money' I would guess that I have only managed to do 1/10th of the paid clicks etc I could have this year
[strike]Continue my sealed tins, did very well last year but have less 'spare' money this year so make more of an effort[/strike] but the only problem with spending less is I get less change :rotfl:
[strike]Declutter, started when we moved and feels so good![/strike] oh yes!!
Make the effort to see my friends more
Be more organised! I've signed myself up for over 3 times the amount of studying than I did last year with the OU, so I HAVE to or I will fail!
One day I might be more organised...........
    GC: £200
Slinkies target 2018 - another 70lb off (half way to what the NHS says) so far 25lb
