YL - have you got a heated throw? They are absolutely wonderful. Also lots of hot water bottles. Leggings under fleecy PJ bottoms. Keep the stove going all night with coal. You’re a country lass, you know all this stuff already I know. Have a fab day, BE BRAVE xxx
I am suffering with caffeine overload. I am supposed to keep my coffee and tea intake to a minimum for health reasons and yesterday had 4 coffees (working outside for 9 hours and they were all bought for me). I didn't think about how it would affect me, I have hardly slept and still feel a bit strange!
Going to parents for lunch, seeing my brother and family. Need to drop some keys off at work and I must wash the car. I also need to do some laundry and get the hoover out.
A frugal December is needed here too. We have money saved for Christmas but have the car Mot and service, chimney sweep and heating oil to pay for!12 -
Morning all
Spent most of yesterday outside which was lovely, but I fell asleep at 8pm so was definitely worn out!There is no laundry to do today thankfully. After I have fed the animals we will put the Christmas tree up and have a HM lasagne for tea. DS has a bad cough so an easy day on the cards.YL - car washing is one thing I hate, so I paid the nice chaps in town £7 to do it for me 😊. Not frugal per se but I spend so carefully that paying someone to do something that saves me time, and they do a better job, is a win.I had one glass of wine yesterday and have a sore head. I haven’t had a drink for two weeks and it’s definitely been the right thing for me. Alcohol does definitely affect my mood longer term, so I’ll stick with no booze now. Might even lose a pound or two in the process!Have fab days all xx11 -
hello all
cactus punishment? I know cacti have spines so i suspect a blocked word beginning with p is relevant here…otherwise puzzled.
well done on the shortbread CoG and bread and butter pudding is my absolute favourite…if i spot a ys fruit loaf anytime i’m in! In fact I was considering it for todays tea, but im now leaning towards the stupidly easy (ie microwaveable) sponge pudding…if i have any golden syrup. Round here golden syrup.is called treacle…well it’s not treacle so confusion is often caused. To distinguish actual treacle is called black treacle. Anyway…
Heated throw huh? What is this of which you speak? Sounds like something DD would like. She’s slim and has Raynaud’s so feels the cold and i get tart retorts if i suggest she adds a fat layer. (not severe Raynaud’s so i’m fairly sure it’s not a formal diagnosis), my mum has it too, and they’re both left handed).
ETA had a quick google…head buzzing. Any recommendations? Are they washable? Since we have a cat i’m sure she’d want to get in on the act too so i would want to be able to wash it…
Oh im feeling quite chirpy by the way…thanks for the wishes…now i’ve joined the abemaciclib support group on facebook it appears i suffer lots less than most, to the point where I actually don’t say anything! Morning all.
I should have sent my chocolate Dizzys way last night as it's given me a headache. I never learn that too much sugar is just no good for me.
Today we have a full day together before DGD2 arrives tonight. Plans are dailies, dog walk, hoovering, dog bath and baking. Anything else will be a bonus.
Have a great day everyone.Spend less now, work less later.11 -
Was in the WAC, in the early hours. Lay thinking, "I hope I've not offended @Valli. Hope she doesn't think I'm implying that her parents are poor", Thanks @pigpen for offering suggestions with links, we can always rely on you to provide all the information, in a better way.
The frost has gone. The mud is back! The road men have almost finished mending the road. Should be done this week. It has been nice having no traffic going past. We don't get lots of traffic normally, but notice the difference.
@Dizzy_Imp, glad you cleared the air with OH. Hope you manage to find a way to fund Christmas.
Having a chilling day, DW done. Next week we are on school run/tea cooking/childcare until Thursday.
Hugs to all, mumtoomany.xxxFrugal Living Challenge 2025.12 -

Good afternoon, I have been missing the last couple of days as I lost Friday to paid stuff and then decided to have a family day yesterday as DS was doing some singing with his drama group and took some stuff to the local recycling centre. I really need to get some tasks done today.
Since DH is on a day off we are going to try and get some decluttering and decorating done in the house.
Tasks for today
Feed the animals
Get dressed
Declutter the kitchen table
Dismantle the table and put it outside ready to go to the recycling centre
Do the high dusting in the kitchen
Wash down the window frames and door in the kitchen.
Make a start on painting the kitchen.
Declutter the table in the living room
Declutter under the table in the living room
Put away the Halloween decorations that have just been sitting on the living room table since they were down a few weeks away.
Sweep and mop the kitchen floor.
Do uni homework for next week.
Submit ID to HR for new job
Submit ID to local council for upcoming exam invigilator work
Look into claiming points on survey accounts to use towards festive presents.
Delete 50 emails from personal inbox
Organise the festive food shopping
Start festive shopping
Go and collect stuff from friend
Move the box out of the bedroom and put it into the shed.
Do some of the ironing pile.
Assist DH with sorting through the pile of clothes.
Think that is everything that I want to try and tackle today, I best get started as lots to do but DH will be assisting with some of the tasks.

I’m late posting as I have been flying. I know, actual flying. So I have:
given parts of the kitchen a good clean - sink, hob, oven shelves (yes, really 😇);
WUDUPA - this was DH’s job from last night, but he seems to have found more pressing matters in the shedcleaned bathroom;
vacuumed downstairs;
sorted out wilting flowers and rearranged them. Not in a Narc0 absolutely gorgeous rearranging way, you understand. More of a cut them down and plonk them in a smaller vase kind of way.
Yesterday afternoon I sorted put my not insubstantial seed collection, so now I have a small list of seeds to order. Hopefully whittled down to ones that I actually need. Next job is to place that order.
Miserable, cold and drizzle here. Thinking of Mumtoomany and ASB.12
