Morning all. Day 5 of this bug and I'm now slinkier by 5lb - I'm not a fan of speed weight loss, and it's not unwelcome, but I had been planning to take less drastic measures! I took some oral rehydration solution last night and got a good night's sleep with no tummy pain, so am feeling a little bit better this morning. I have cancelled everything that I was planning to do outside the house until Tuesday (apart from possibly a short walk with Rosie tomorrow and again on Sunday): that means no visit to the ballet tonight, no church fete tomorrow and no baking for the cake stall, and no church on Sunday morning. Rosie has just gone out with L the dog walker.
So far I have done a 5min PUPA downstairs and FUPA clean washing from yesterday. I am now regathering my strength to go and have a shower and strip my bed, as it's a dry and windy day for hanging out.
Good luck with the job applications, toochoosey x
Hope your day improves, pigpen x

Hello all. Just the dailies, dog walk and paid stuff for me today.
Iona - I think it's good to give yourself a few days to recover properly.
Kaz - also blowing a hoolie here. Poppet and I avoided the woods and the wind hurt my head it was so cold. I knew I should have worn a hat but I'd just blow dried my hair, not that it stayed nice of course!Spend less now, work less later.12 -

Hi all. Busy morning. The rest of the jumble was collected. Then we had to move the sheep to be tupped. Took them next door, to make use of one of their rams. It meant we had to separate the tiny ram lamb still here, and put him in with neighbours ram lambs. Ended up carrying him, he did not want to go and leave the ewes. Tried to take him on a dog lead first, but he just lay down and played dead! Having spent half the morning moving sheep in the mud, we had a cuppa and chat with neighbour. Also done the DW once. Off to look for something for tea now.
@Asparklierblonde, you could always eat the spare cockerels. Not as meaty as commercial chickens, but free food. If you decide to, I'd pluck them outside and chop the wings off, never any meat on them and hard work to pluck.
@toochoosey, I'll wave when you are passing.
Hugs to all, mumtoomany.xxxFrugal Living Challenge 2025.13 -
Thanks @mumtoomany, we have a neighbour who is going to have the cockerels which is great. I am not brave enough to do the deed.
Nice chat had with neighbouring farmer this morning whilst I was outside doing jobs in the sunshine. Bitterly cold but lovely in the sun. No wind here thankfully. Fire roaring away and DD next to it doing some drawing. WM x2 done, and both on the line to dry.
Have fab weekends all xx12 -
I don't do the deed either, that's why i have dadtoomany. He worked on a chicken farm once, many years ago, till he developed an allergy to the feathers. Great weekend to you, mumtoomany.xxxFrugal Living Challenge 2025.12

although it's bitterly cold and windy (I know this because the rabbits haven't ventured out) the washing - including towels, is drying beautifully on the line. I've been swimming so rinsed the gear through and that's out drying and a hand knitted jumper is artfully draped on the rabbit run to 'dry flat'. HM chicken soup for our lunch, and a cuppa and a quick look at some of countdown - v. thrillled to have got the number exactly like Rachel!
Trying to pluck up the engergy to clean the bedroom - bed has been stripped and remade - have done some shredding.Don't put it DOWN; put it AWAY"I would like more sisters, that the taking out of one, might not leave such stillness" Emily DickinsonJanice 1964-2016
Thank you Honey Bear10 -
I have managed to eat two snack-sized meals today, have stripped 2 beds, done and hung out WMx1 (that's one TD load saved
), and got DH to help me re-make his bed. My bed will have to be made up later: first I need to recover from the last big effort. The remaining loads of bedding will go out on the whirligig early tomorrow, as the forecast is for sunshine and a bit of a breeze again.
I have also shopped around and ordered books for Christmas presents and sorted a few more photos for DS1's now-somewhat-belated birthday book, and I've made a decision to remove the lower rail in the built-in wardrobe in our room and move in the metal bookshelf which I had introduced into the linen cupboard on the landing a few years back to hold a whole load of files, most of which have now been decluttered, and there is room for those that are left on the open bookshelves in the study. That will give me more space in the cupboard, saving me from the present struggle to reach the linen on the slatted shelves, and also provide somewhere to put the smaller boxes of family heirlooms and photos which are currently piled on top of one another in the wardrobe. Things are gradually being consolidated and sorted in what to me is a logical and orderly manner. There's still some way to go, but the path ahead is clearer now
Hope everyone has a relaxing Friday evening xxx
ETA:
I had to go to the tool cupboard to get a hammer and picture nail for a framed picture that DD embroidered for me about 30 years ago, which used to sit on my bedside table and kept falling down the gap at the back; it is now hung under some photos next to my bed. While I was getting the hammer, I also took a screwdriver, so the hanging rail is no longer cluttering up the wardrobe. Now I need to fill and paint over 3 small holes in the wall (note to self: pick up P0!yfilla when you put the tools away!)

Glad you're feeling better Ionafan.Dinosaur hunting completed successfully. At last. That was a lot more involved than I thought it would be but a big shout out to Cameron and Mark from The Range for going the extra mile. Much appreciated. Belovéd just happened to see a Maclaren this afternoon which he thinks belongs to Chris Dawson - no-one else in Plymouth is rich enough to own a supercar. One batch of Delia's mincemeat made in the slow cooker, all now boxed and in the fridge ready to turn into mince pies. I have a packet of filo pastry in the freezer I want to use up so at some point I'll marry those together. And make some shortcrust pastry for the traditionalists. We got rid of the TD a few months ago (donated to some lads that live around the corner whose need was greater than ours) so getting anything dry in the winter is problematic but this week I've managed to clear the backlog that's been around for weeks. Today's load was rugby shirts and a blue towel, the heaviest of the lot, but the weather was fab and tomorrow's is just as good. I may go completely mad and change the bed, but I am truly sick of the place looking like a Chinese laundry with broggies drying on the breeze and teeshirts on the rack in front of the freezer needing to be moved every time I want a packet of peas. After our break in Glasgow I am back to writing thank you notes again, and they're weighing heavily on my mind. I need to get them done before they turn into a Frog.Better is good enough.11
