    And finally.... Saved 76% / 0.14kwh.

    = 256 points / 32p.

I'm on Agile, so only use "background" from 16:00 to 19:00, so I was amazed to find that sitting in the fire-light, using a i-pad, saved 87% of what I thought was next to nothing.

I've since put the fridge and freezer on a timer, so they go off for both the morning and evening peaks. That'll most likely cut my savings percentage down but will save more in the long run.

That reminds me of when I was a kid, we didn’t have a fridge at all, just a pantry with a cold slab.
Mind you we had no central heating just a coal fire with a back boiler, oh and a toilet outside. And folks talk about it’s not as good as the old days, trust me it’s much better except that the internet was called Mrs Jones at number 23👀

And here come the four Yorkshiremen

Someone will come along and say we didn't even have a cold slab, not even a coal fire and we had a bucket outside for a toilet lol.

Been lucky but I do remember a couple of years when parents were renovating a large old building from top to bottom in my childhood so no CH and very sparse services and cold winters. That probably did harden me up a bit for cold.

I think I've now proved my previous conclusion that, without the In Day Adjustment, the current Demand Flexibility Service and, therefore, the Octopus Savings Sessions are a waste of time for me.

With the maximum effort to cut back from an already very low base, in the first saving session I saved 31p. I won't be going through any such effort again unless the In Day Adjustment is reintroduced.

I will continue to sign up, in the hope of winning a prize and I will also, hopefully, be able to take advantage of any 'free' sessions.

    Massive 7p or 56 points.
Which is not bad, as that time of day is when we use around the same amount (next to nothing)

Owt is better than nowt 🤣

Yeah, I'll continue to opt in, I'm case I win a prize, but other than switching the tv off, there's not a lot to save without the in day adjustment.

As I've got solar (no battery), most of my usage is shifted to the sunnier times of day.

Panels are slightly shaded by next door in winter, so they don't always generate enough to run my washer, or oven without paying for some electric, so I use some from the grid, but that's unlikely to coincide with the baseline hours for the saving sessions.
  • DFS is calling for a session 5:00pm until 6:30om tomorrow, I am not sure if like last time we will just get an hour.
