I won’t buy anymore.. I think it was a crazy panic type buy after selling my beloved genuine items. But at least I have something i did like but similarly it could have just wasted the money. Plus like you say might be subject to fraud. And it’s unethical :(
Sorry I dont wanna sound a doom and gloom merchant but if i had 10 quid for everytime i had seen fraud on tiktok i would be spending the rest of my life on a Carribean Island in the sun
  • Not sure whether to congratulate or commiserate with you,  making the decision if often the hardest bit, once you’ve made this decision it is easier.

Hope your BP settles - new bedding etc sounds like a good idea, it’s all ‘yours’

  • If you have to get a lot of prescriptions you can get a prepaid card.

My OH has one. Think it costs about £11 per month but he has three sets of tablets a month so it saves us about £20 a month over the total cost it would be.

Don't be too hard on yourself about the bedding spends. Relationship break ups are hard. It sounds as though you are positive about the future though so that can only be a good thing.
  • Morning DFB35, I have read through your whole diary over the last few days. I am sorry to hear of MH issues, but I wonder if they will start to resolve themselves now you've made a big decision to separate from your husband. I know my MH and spending were out of control when I was on the precipice of breaking up with my EXH ...almost as soon as he went I was able to feel in control of my life, future again and I was able to feel better about everything. I hope the same happens for you too.
Do you have a plan for the house? If you are selling, or your H buying you out then you could wipe the debt slate clean and start over with a firm budget for yourself.

On the beauty front, I used to work for a big brand beauty house. I have always been a little vain after that with wanting specific brands and makeup. I wasn't ever into lashes and nails as I can't be bothered with the maintenance. But nice mascaras, foundation, nail polishes etc...I have since gone through every 'cheap' brand and found many to be similar and good enough at a fraction of the price. I also take regular supplements- biotin for nail, hair. MSM for energy, bromelain for bloating (I'm also menopausal but mine was natural) and I just started taking collagen too. Perhaps you could look for supplements for whatever it is specifically that bothers you - for me it was skin starting to sag, nails not strong and energy......there are plenty of things out there now to help your lashes grow naturally and nails to grow strong etc. That would boost your confidence going forwards and be much cheaper in the long run.
I will book mark to follow along and cheer from the sidelines

  • You are allowed to spend money, and it sounds like you needed clothes etc, just try and add it into the budget  Sorry to hear about the divorce, even if it has been on the cards a while, I can imagine it was very difficult. I love having a lash lift, I will do it if I am going away or something, not had one for over a year now, but worth it when I do get them done!

Sorry to hear you are having a tough time of it.

Could you get a solicitor to write a letter to your husband to show that you intend to take legal action to get him to sell the house?

It might just jolt him into action if he gets an official legal letter.

I know he doesn’t want to buts in a divorce we have to do things we don’t want to do ! I’d agree a solicitor’s letter outlining sell or buy out is the only option.  If you have to move out then he should be paying you rent for his half of the family home.

  • Have you mentioned that too him about the inheritance? That might get him to reconsider. Also has he considered how expensive the property will be to run by himself. Maybe make a list for him of all the bills he will have to take over and he might see how little that will leave him.

Have you spoken with your solicitor regarding if you stop making mortgage payments as that could lead to an uneven split of the asset in future when it comes to it.
