It can't find the google host. The internet setting is set to never dial a connection.
BTW I'm using Firefox and Zone Alarm if that's any help.
I ran ip config again and it thinks its disconnected.I have plenty of willpower - it's won't power I need.

They were until I reconnected the powerplug. Does this mean one of the powerplugs has packed up?
Ran ipconfig again and it says the IVp4 address is 192.168.2.3.
The PC has got 192.168.2.2. Does this make a difference?I have plenty of willpower - it's won't power I need.

on the laptop, could you do this
ipconfig /all >c:\1.txt
notepad c:\1.txt
and post the contents, if you have a usb key, you could transfer the c:\1.txt file to a pc on the internet to stop you having to type it all in
ipv6 can cause some problems on vista pc's, you could try deleting the protocol in control panel networks. also try turning off zonealarmEver get the feeling you are wasting your time? :rolleyes:0 -

Yes I got the space. Tried again still says access denied.
Where do I find the ipv6 setting?
Just noticed I have an exclamation mark next to a phishing filter in advanced settings. Is this causing a problem?
I do still have the wireless router, but it was an absolute nightmare for dropping the connection - it's the other side of the wall from the phone.
The router only has one port light on now. The other port light is still orange.I have plenty of willpower - it's won't power I need.
