I think some forum members have an unrealistic expectation that delivery should be quick.
The main issue is that there are unrealistic assumptions about delivery times, including in law.
If companies were unable to rely on such legislation, they would be unable to consider standard postal services to be an appropriate method of delivery of time sensitive documents, including such practices as sending items a day or two apart to ensure they are not received simultaneously.

Good old Royal Mail. Just received several days' worth of post in one go. Including two from Principality - one telling me that my account is about to mature and outlining my maturity options, and the other thanking me for submitting my maturity options.

Meanwhile, I'm waiting for Santander to send me online banking details.
"For security purposes, these letters will arrive separately."
No they won't, they'll arrive on the same day. Just like all the debit cards and PINs that arrive together.
Funny I had had my two Principality letters come today but we get post every two days. I've a feeling this may be partially to do with Principality as the letters are dated three days apart.

There was a TV investigation a few months ago into RM (Dispatches,  I do believe). Was hilarious and frustrating in equal measure.... they sent several letters (with Trackers inside) from London to Birmingham.  The letters took ages (8 to 14 days was not uncommon) ... the trackers revealed that the letters spent most of their time sat in the local Sorting Office ... RM's response was to heavily criticise Dispatches for using trackers ! , claiming that trackers are not allowed in letters....says it all really,  lol .
Remember many, many years ago when I was a young lad and in the days of a second delivery round about midday, I was in the next town to the village where I lived. I can’t remember why, but I had a lot of documents in a large envelope, so rather than carry this around I bought a first class stamp and wrote my name and address on the envelope in the post office. (This PO was a local sorting office as well). When I caught the bus home (I lived almost by the bus stop), I saw the postman putting the envelope in my front door. All in the space of about two hours. Absolutely true story. Can’t beat old fashioned commitment to service. 😉

I have a postcard from the early 1900's where the text said - "Will be arriving on the 6.30pm train this afternoon, can you meet me at the station?".
Postmarked that day, and obviously expected to be delivered well before the train arrived.

Talking of Principality - I can't see a way to stop them sending all of the maturity stuff by snail mail. I've just received a big chunk of information about maturity options, as well as a letter telling me my maturity instructions have been accepted. I'll have the same thing all over again in a couple of weeks when another account matures.

Still, not as bad as Coventry, who sent me a hefty brochure about their easy access maturity account. They could have saved the paper.

That is how it used to be. I can also remember if you posted a letter (with local area address) early enough to catch a morning collection (and there used to be more than one) it would be delivered same afternoon
