I'm feeling the "past" weighing quite heavily on me today as yesterday my ex apparently went to prison after some sort of domestic violence/ assault on his girlfriend. Ex's sister had tried calling me yesterday morning but I didn't answer and then found out via a friend last night - don't have all the details but sounds very serious. Makes me pleased that he is the past, but dredged up a few emotions... I did say my life is a calamity at the moment!
Oh wow..!?! Safe to say that you were well out of that relationship..!1 -
Oh Twiggy! Sounds like you’re having a right one! Hope things settle down, definitely well out of it with the ex but understand how these things can give you a bit of a head spin.About 28k of debt to deal with…1

Thank goodness you weren't the ex's victim. Also thank goodness they usually take these things seriously now. At least you won't bump into him in the street & he can't try driving his car at you on the pavement, even with a friend in the passenger seat although that is 50 years ago.2

Dearest @twiggy86 no wonder you're feeling it! You dodged a bullet there. Do you want to talk to ex's sister? She may want to apologise? Love Humdinger xx1
-
Oh wow @badmemory - that sounds scary. I have no idea why she wanted to talk to me @Humdinger1, but I really don't want to be pulled into it if I don't have to. It's his mum's birthday on Friday (would have been his dad's yesterday) and I would have texted her but I'm scared to "open that door". The information I have is that he was given 7 years, but don't know if that's accurate as that is very long sentence. It has had me thinking of the times when he showed his violent/ angry side, which hasn't been nice to relive. It does mean that he definitely won't be getting the stuff that's still in the loft any time soon - do I just dispose or ask his mum if she wants to store? Not saying I should ask her immediately, but something to think about.
Fairly uneventful day yesterday, although bf is trying to sort next stage of care for his mum - ideally nursing home but his brother thinks she should go home with carers (she really shouldn't as she's not nearly capable). However we were in the garden for a bit with the pooch playing which was nice, then we went food shopping. Went to Lidl as I had a £5 off voucher and it made a change! (Oh the excitement of adult life!)
It's bf's niece's birthday today, and I hadn't made her a crochet toy but remembered I had some that I'd previously made (without a purpose) so I had a look through those. I'm torn between two of them, but I think if I tweak one slightly it will be perfect! It's also my brother's birthday today - I haven't got him anything but he still hasn't "cashed in" his present from last year! Maybe I'll remind him of that - although potentially quite costly! (I'd made him a crossword with 10 activities hidden in it for him to find and then choose what he wanted to do!)
On to today...- Make lunch to take to work
- Look through crochet toys for present
- Update spreadsheet
- Watch some youtube to find out how to do "german short rows"!
- "Dinner" from stores
- Pay lowest amount at acro
Debt as at 5 June 2023 - £15,600.89
Current debt - £5,555.00
Total paid off - £10,045.89 (64% paid off)5 -
Maybe let the dust settle for a few months, then contact his mum to say you will be dropping his stuff from your loft at hers, as you need the space...2021 Decluttering Awards: ⭐⭐🥇🥇🥇🥇🥇🥇 2022 Decluttering Awards: 🥇

My life continues to be like series 5 of a bad TV programme (you know the one where the writers throw in everything!) But I need to remain positive and not let everything slip. Speaking of positive... tomorrow is one year since I first met my bf! I can't believe it's 1) already been a year; and also 2) only been a year! We aren't particularly planning anything to celebrate but may go for pizza down the beach on Monday evening (we have his daughter this weekend, plus Sunday will be busy with visiting mums). Tomorrow we also have his niece's birthday party for probably much of the morning/ maybe afternoon.
Today I'm working from home, so plan on being productive around the house (in between work of course!)
So today I have/will:- Update spreadsheet
- Perform some crochet surgery - going to give niece a pixie that I made a few years ago as a halloween project, so it has black wings which don't feel appropriate! So going to cut those off and either leave with no wings or quickly make some white ones (from stash)
- Couple of loads of washing on 30 degree quick washes and hang on airer
- Meals from stores
- Finalise budget for next month (pay day Monday!)
- Continue working on knitted jumper
- Walk pooch over to Tesco to collect parcel
Debt as at 5 June 2023 - £15,600.89

Had a good and relatively frugal weekend... which is good because it's payday today!
I have just spent some time fiddling with my budget for April and finalising that - it was pretty much there but just tweaked slightly. There is still an annoying little error in there somewhere and I can't work it out! Very frustrating! The budget for April means that I can finish replensihing my emergency fund (after using it to pay for the boiler) and get back to debt busting! I should finally hit that 50% of my total debt gone! I feel like that will be a good lift for me!
Actually it looks like my salary has just hit my account so I'll need to do all my many shuffles!
Anyway, today's bits and bobs...- Make lunch to take to work
- Do "tidy up" of accounts
- Finalise April budget
- Do money shuffles
- Work on knitting project
- Get something for bf on way home
- Do food shopping
- Dinner from stores
Debt as at 5 June 2023 - £15,600.89
Current debt - £5,555.00
Total paid off - £10,045.89 (64% paid off)1 -
I feel like I need some goals for the month as I've got so much going on in my head at the moment and need some focus...
- Get to the 50% paid mark for my total debt
- Continue getting garden up together for the summer
- Sort out second bedroom - probably going to have my new "office" space in there
- Finish knitted jumper
- Add 4 new colours to my crochet blanket
Debt as at 5 June 2023 - £15,600.89
Current debt - £5,555.00
Total paid off - £10,045.89 (64% paid off)2
