  • Hi, not sure if I've commented before but have been reading along with your diary. Fellow crocheter here, currently trying to get a baby blanket done - well baby is due now and I'm about 1/4 of the way through!!

Your dad sounds amazing, so nice of him to help with lots of house stuff!
  • That's lovely of your dad, and granddad. What will you be allocating the £400 to?!

So pleased to hear that your home is all coming together and making you feel (nearly 😁) houseproud, and that all else is going well. It's so heartwarming and reassuring hearing you sound as happy and excited for life as your recent posts do, you bloody deserve it x

Thank you so much @FacelessNumber and @PennysIntoPounds - yes I am very blessed to have such a lovely dad! He was there tiling my kitchen yesterday - only replacing the upstand which had started to perish but it honestly made such more a difference than I anticipated! He's back today doing the grouting to finish it off! I will be putting the money into the "house pot" so that dad can see where it is going. Life certainly does feel more positive as of late!

@FacelessNumber - what sort of things do you make?

Reminder to all the ladies on here - book your smear test! Had mine yesterday and was having a very nice chat with the lady whilst in a compromising position, so it really wasn't bad at all!

    Today's bits and bobs...
    • Load of washing on a quick 30 degree wash
    • Washing hung on airer
    • Made lunch to take to work
    • Dad doing DIY
    • Update spreadsheet
    • Work on sewing in ends on the pillow cover I'm making at lunch!!!
    • Write shopping list
    • Pop to shop for few bits
    • Take back box of tiles - literally JUST managed to get it done with one box, so that will be £15 coming back in
    • Dinner from stores
    • Chill and crochet in front of the TV this evening!!!
    Debt as at 5 June 2023 - £15,600.89
    Current debt - £5,555.00
Total paid off - £10,045.89 (64% paid off)
  • I've mostly made hats, ear warmers and baby blankets, but have done a few amigurumi too although I find them annoying to attach all of the pieces together!

I just love how mindful it is, nothing like sitting doing a few rows of crochet in the evening! Baby has now arrived so not sure when I'll have time to finish her blanket 🙈

I totally agree on the sewing front!!! I tend to procrastinate on that bit until necessary!!!!!

I had a blooming lovely weekend!

Friday I ran some errands on the way home including dropping some power of attorney forms I've completed to a friend for her to double check (thankfully no errors) and return a box of tiles as dad managed to sort the kitchen using pretty much every scrap of the one box! So that £14 has already been refunded! I made myself a lovely bruschetta and salad for dinner using the sour dough my boss made me!! So tasty, easy and was all in the fridge!

Saturday I got up and did a little run - intentionally little as foot was painful after double netball on Thursday! Had a little twinge so will take it easy this week (although no netball Thursday anyway as I have my stitch night). I then did a free online yoga and then pottered around for a bit. Went for a little walk with "new guy" - of course it started raining just after we set out! Still nice though! Came home and played around with some air dry clay - no idea how it will all turn out as have to wait for it to dry but I can see some cracks appearing in the pot!!! Then used a pack of mince to make burgers and then the rest I made some kind of beef, chorizo and blackbean chilli - again no idea how it turned out but it used up a few bits that were in the fridge!!!

Then Sunday was another morning of pottering before popping to my parents for a cuppa. I then decided to take myself to a show that I wanted to see but no one else fancied it! (New guy was tempted but had work to do!) Well I'm so glad I went on my own as it was fantastic - and also ticked the box of challenging myself to do things on my own!!! I did spend £39 on the ticket, drink and parking but absolutely worth it!!! Other than some food shopping on Friday, that was the only money I spent all weekend!!!

So starting the week incredibly cheery!!!

So on to today's bits and pieces:
    • Make lunch to take to work
    • Update spreadsheet
    • Consider whether to make a CC payment of £360 as this would take me from the £12's into the £11's and I really want to get there!!!
    • Start next project at lunch
    • Pop to shop on way home from work to see if they have the microwave I want in stock
    • Put council tax letter in bag so I can finalise figure in April budget (forgot to bring today!)
    • Dinner from stores
    • Finalise ideas for brothers birthday

Thanks for the suggestion!! I think I'm going to try be patient a little longer! There is no immediate rush, just would really like to see a bigger shift in the debt total (rather than have it in savings!)

    Good morning diaryland!

Had a very nice evening! Popped to get a few things on my way home and treated myself to a tub of hit chocolate which I've been craving recently! "Naughty" (i.e. not necessary) purchase but oh did I enjoy it later in the evening!!!

I did also buy a microwave... then texted my parents and they had also bought me one yesterday!!! I will return the one I bought later in the week - probably Friday as I have things on the next few nights!

    Today's bits and bobs:
    • Make lunch to take to work - used up end of gammon joint I cooked
    • Update spreadsheet
    • Update April budget with final council tax amount
    • Crochet present at lunch
    • Check fridge to see what needs popping in freezer - I'm going out for dinner tonight now!
    Hmm, seems a short list!
