I had to pop to Aldi last night for some bread and have been keeping a bag of loose change in my bag. It's what I had found in the change jar/ randomly around the house, but wasn't in denominations that I could pay in at the Post Office. Then when I go to the self-serve checkout I've been choosing one that takes cash and shoving it in the machine - so far this month these amounts have come to £16.24! Meaning with the £8 that I paid in at the PO, this has come to nearly £25 and I still have the last lot of change to do this with! (It's all 5ps and 1ps so no way would I want to count these out at a "real" checkout!) Better used this way than sat in a jar! What I've then been doing is transferring the amounts from the food budget account and into the misc savings.

We won both games at netball last night! Feels strange to win so often as this hasn't been the norm! Oh and I managed to finish my blanket before I went so my sofa is now looking like a beautiful explosion of colour!!!

    Today's bits and bobs...
    • Text ex to see if he was actually coming today or tomorrow - he's said tomorrow as hasn't got the van today. I don't mind but do have a job so needed to let my bosses know if I would be in the office or not!
    • Realised I've been using my data at home as for some reason "auto join" was turned off on my phone for my home wifi!!!
    • Make lunch to take to work
    • Update spreadsheet
    • Get carpet cleaner back from boss as I'm going to clean the spare bedroom carpet once it's completely empty (I borrowed off my aunt and had lent to my boss!)
    • Work on crochet deer at lunch
    • Possibly going to a pub quiz tonight - will drive and drink soft drinks
    Debt as at 5 June 2023 - £15,600.89
    Current debt - £5,935.00
Total paid off - £9,665.89 (61% paid off)

Finally ticked something off my list that has been around FAR too long! I now have a will! Not that I'm planning to go anywhere anytime soon, but good to know my family won't have that stress!

I'm a lawyer in completely different area of law and have no idea about wills(!) but it does mean I have access to a template. Given that my wishes are very simple (i.e. everything goes to one person) I was happy to do it myself. It's been sat on my desk for a few weeks but needed signing, so just got my bosses to witness the signature.

Now that job is completely ticked off the list!

Last night was an evening of cancellations! Ex cancelled coming to get his stuff (will be an evening next week now apparently!). Was meant to be helping aunt's friend with some forms on Sunday but that's been postponed due to illness. And my friend's daughter was poorly so didn't go to the pub - however that did mean that I didn't spend anything yesterday!

    Today's bits and bobs...
    • Make lunch to take to work
    • Text bank details to friend who owes me money for a ticket to an event next month
    • Work on crochet deer at lunch
    • Dinner from stores
    • Pulled out an old work in progress last night and did a bit of work on that (I was at a stage on all my other projects that I didn't want to do last night!) so will probably continue with that this evening
That seems a very short list so I will think if there is anything else I can do today to help my progress!

Great weekend and only £2 spent! (Which was on milk!)

Friday was a quiet evening in doing some crochet (not working on the present!) Then Saturday I had a short walk in the sunshine to pick up a parcel (whilst procrastinating on finishing the present!) However, when I got home I did manage to finish it off! So need to buy a card, wrap it and deliver it this week.

Then I went off to an incredibly scary escape room!!! This was my Christmas present to my friend - and she was cursing me for booking it!!! However me, her and her boyfriend had a great time, no one had a heart attack (despite a scary man in a mask chasing us around a house in the darkness!) and we got out with 7 minutes to spare! Then we celebrated with dinner at a pizza place - and her bf kindly paid!

Yesterday I popped to my parents and got fed a sausage sandwich (always good to be fed!). Then I went to my friends as I need to help her with some power of attorney forms - and also got to meet her two new foster dogs! By the time I got home I was knackered, so did the minimum amount of housework possible! (Justification was that dad was coming to do DIY today so no point hoovering when he was going to create more mess... whereas in truth he'll probably hoover up after himself!) Dinner was nice and easy as I'd taken the rest of pizza home with me, so had that with some salad.

And now we're back to Monday! I need to do some actual work (grrr) then I'll be back with my weekly goals!

My aims for this week are:
    • Frog a half completed crochet jumper - it's too small so need to re-start but the first step is pulling out all my hard work! (Been on the list for ages!)
    • Clean spare room carpet if ex actually comes to collect his things this week
    • Do end of month roundups, progress report etc!
    • Finalise February budget - have a couple of things to book and don't have final prices yet though
    • Finalise crochet plans for Feb - have a couple of birthday's coming up in March and the goal will be to use patterns and yarn I already have
    • Book smear test!

Would you be able to pin the ex down re collecting his stuff? Maybe with a threat to dump it all if not gone by Sunday 4th Feb? It's holding you back & is quite likely his way of hoping you'll let him move back in....

So today's bits and bobs are as follows:
    • Take lunch to work - including an large/ sharing opened pack of crisps so that I eat them before they go stale! (That's my excuse anyway!)
    • Dad at mine sanding and painting skirting in the living room!
    • Listen to free audio "self-help" type book on drive to work
    • Update spreadsheet to reflect weekend's spends (minimal!)
    • Work on a long ago abandoned cross stitch at lunch!
    • Make meal plan
    • Make shopping list
    • Shop to list
    • Hopefully shove the last the change in the checkout! (It's all 1ps and 5ps!)

You're right that I need to be firmer with him - I don't think he's hoping to move back in, it's more a case of it's my problem at the moment rather than him having to store it somewhere!

So it turns out that the checkout would only accept £1.60 worth of 1ps and 5ps before getting stroppy with me and just spitting out everything else!  :D However, that's £1.60 worth more of change gone with only a little bit left! I've transferred the money from the grocery budget to the misc savings - which now sits at over £1,400. Looks like I'm going to end the month with £32 left in the grocery budget and possibly a similar amount in my personal spends. This will be shuffled to the misc savings tomorrow once my pay hits.

My house was like a bomb site last night when I got home as all the living room furniture was in the middle of the room with stuff piled everywhere! Dad gave the skirting a first coat yesterday and is back today to finish it - so I believe he'll move everything back today. He's then going to paint the ceiling Friday, followed by walls on Monday and then that room is pretty much finished from a DIY perspective! I do want to get curtains and need to clean the sofa etc once dad is finished, but it will feel like massive progress once this stage is finished!

Anyway on to today's bits and bobs...
    • Take lunch to work - including leftover lasagne
    • Dad at mine painting
    • Listen to free audio "self-help" type book on drive to work - it's not really for me but I'll finish it anyway as it's only a couple of hours!
    • Update spreadsheet
    • Finalise February budget
    • Work on cross stitch at lunch
    • 30 minutes of housework
    • Dinner from stores
    • Make a couple of "sample" crochet squares so I can make a decision on a pillow cover I want to make (i.e. 3inch or 4inch squares!)
    • Possibly start frogging the project!
