Forced export at the ready - just watched a Y@utub@ vid to make sure I was right on setting the battery on the app correct. V straightforward 🤞🏻

Sunny day predicted tmoz but we still
dont generate one drop 3.30pm onward as sun too low in sky so gonna charge the battery from grid 3:30-4:30 tomorrow in readiness for the session. (Thanks @QrizB)

Doing that top up charge as battery is 6.5wh (& std inverter) and reckon that usage from 3:30-4:30 could deplete it 10% & battery settings allow overall discharge to min of 10% -( unless anyone on here thinks it’s ok to go below that?) Anyway - without that top up charge I reckon there is a good chance of battery being depleted too soon during export session.

Our installers have just sent out instructions to change the lower limit on our 9.6kw batteries to 35% for the winter!  Summer months they say 20%. This is Solis inverter with Pylon batteries.  We're rarely getting to 80% from 20% at the moment, so I'm not that bothered that we are working the 35-100% range rather than 20-80% range.

I just realised that the short notice notifications arrive on Whatsapp and not on the Ocotpus app.  That will explain why I have missed a couple as I don't use Whatsapp.
They are pushing them out on the app too, but the fastest way is always to pull from a feed, not wait for a push.

Can you explain how to do that?

    Thanks

I have been with Octopus for about 6 weeks and, depending how cold it is, average around 5 units a day. I set up the app and WhatsApp near the end of Nov so just caught the second saving session which seems to have earned about  £1.90 which is fine as there was low average usage going into it and a tiny bit of use while it was going on. My cooking peak used to be after 18.30 and washer/dryer was mostly mornings to early afternoon.
I have switched my cooking and use of the washer/drier to between 16.30 to 18.30 on non saving days presumably  that will give me greater scope to save on saving sessions?
The last 2 sessions I turned the electricity off at the meter so usage was 0 (for slightly longer than the sessions as I fell asleep listening to the radio while lying on the bed)

35% wow!  We would be outta battery before 5pm if we did that - but your battery is loads bigger than ours so that must be why 😊👍🏻

Either join the WhatsApp group or follow the SavingsSessions account on twitter and turn on notifications.

Well that's a general email they sent to all their customers so it's nothing to do with the size of our battery. I suspect it's more to do with cutting down the amount of problems it could create for them.... They say we don't need to do it if charging overnight on Agile, it's to stop the battery going into hibernate mode when it's very cold, which it could do if there isn't enough charge in the battery (or so they say).
