Yes it’s wonderful cherryfudge, however I’ll probably be complaining next week because of an explosion of weeds. Trip to the plot to sort out a new bed for the leeks. Lots of to and froing with soil and compost. 5 strawberries eaten, strawberries that actually taste like strawberries. 🍓.
Quick tidy around the house. Saw a friend (not planned, but they were feeling low so invited them to pop up for a cuppa. Sc used to make a veggie chilli for tea. Altered 2 new dresses( 20% off)  as they are slightly too long and I’m slightly too short. .

Yep they're lovely the homegrown ones aren't they! I need to plant more up I think as we're not getting enough for more than one each at the moment every few days  the ones in the SMs are so expensive and they taste either of nothing or some sort of chemicals to me. Even after soaking and washing.

My half sibling apparently has really enjoyed my strawberries 🍓 whilst looking after the plot. Slowly working our way home, crawling by Birmingham, hopefully hit the M1 soon.
Had a lovely relaxing holiday ( south wales) . Only used the car once whilst there and that was to drive to Rhossili. Lovely time on the beach, except I got bit on the eyelid of all places. Walked over the causeway to worms head. Ended up taking antihistamines for insect bite for a couple of days. Lots of local walks, read 3 books and had descent gluten free cake. Good job mil didn’t come as it was a mile of rough track to the cottage and down steep sand dunes to the beach. She’s still in a lot of pain. We have sent lots of pictures and OH will is planning on popping up later today.

Half sibling was very kind and brought a piece of mobility equipment from dads for mil and they cleaned it. Hopefully it will help mil and reduce their leaning on fil.
Been to the plot between rain showers, lots of weeds. Resown several veggies that haven’t germinated. Harvested broad 🫘 , lettuce 🥬, mint and strawberries🍓.  The youngest snaffled the strawberries. Watered the greenhouses, we’ve ended up with 🐜 is one, so saturated the ground, hopefully they will move on. The 🍊 and 🍋 trees smell divine. I really need to get them up to the plot permanently at some point as we really don’t have room at home( dad had them in his greenhouse).
    Feeling very tired 🥱

Another couple of hours at the plot attacking weeds with hoe and 🪏. First lot of leeks are in (whoop whoop), sown more French 🇫🇷 🫘 and climbing 🧗 🤣 🫘. Bean pole is in. Sown more kale, romanseco and sage. You can tell we were absent a lot of last year with all the weed seedlings coming up. Beans and pumpkins that are hardening off survived the night. Picked a few more strawberries before we left.
Miss giddychops been for 2 short walks, walking a lot better now she’s had her nails done.

Yes all well here cherryfudge, just super busy with the plots. Fil has not been up at all for various reason and OH goes up when energy levels permit. So I’ve pretty much got the 3 plots pretty much under control. Although there has been little weeding needed due to all the sun we’ve had , I’ve had to do a lot of watering to keep them going. On average each day I’m hauling 200 litres of water around the plot. That might be a slight underestimate but I’m not far off. Certainly built some arm muscles (not underarm that still swings🤣). We’ve pretty much eaten what is coming off so far. Which means few summer time treats in the winter. Luckily I’ve planned, sown and nurtured  future winter meals. We have an abundance of apples that are ripe too early, but they’ve not built up enough sugar levels . Currently turning a lot of them into dried apple slices or making apple and some other fruit crumbles.

I did go and lurk on the pension forum but the numbers they are saving are out of my league. I have noticed since not checking in regularly our spending has got a bit out of control, so I need to make time really.

The goals we set in June (I think) are no further forward. We’re just trying to maintain the status quo.  The bungalow we’ve always said if it ever came on the market we would like to buy is up for sale. After much discussion we have reluctantly agreed that now is not the right time. If the youngest had moved out, we would have gone for it. Hey ho not meant to be.
The saga of dad’s house continues 🤞 it will be done by mid September.
An unexpected car bill needs to be paid and the car fund is empty. Luckily pay day for OH, so. We will just have to be careful the rest of the month. I say that after buying 2 trays ( for drying potatoes) -£2 from a charity shop, M&S knickers-£8, bird food-£7.98, nuts, crystallised ginger and rice £20. This is my problem I say be frugal and then get what I want rather than need. Out of the 4 I really only needed 2 . Knickers and nuts.
Whoop whoop text arrived to say the car is done

Very disappointed to be honest beanielou. The garden is edged in the most stunning array of rose bushes. The smell is phenomenal. It’s literally the next road up from where we live, so ticked loads of boxes but not the most important which is space to accommodate 3 people. Would have released about £50,000 from the sale of our home too. Anyway best not dwelling it.
