The last few days have been hard , as been reliving the last few days of dad’s life (passed this time last year) and the subsequent weeks of finding out about my half sibling betrayal. The house is an ongoing issue with the dreadful online solicitors. Budgeting, housework and ability to think straight have gone out the window.Today I decided that other than trying to remember dad in a more positive light , I need to not give the other stuff headspace and I will deal with it next week.OH and I have decided that as of October ( won’t be able to visit the plot after work) we will be looking at decluttering and getting the house ready to sell. Not sure when we will sell but we have an awful amount of stuff. I’m going to look at things and ask myself 2 things do I love this and do I love it enough to pay someone to move it for me. This is a huge step for OH as he hates change but also is a it might come in handy person. I think it will be best to go room by room to start off with. Probably start with the bathroom as that hopefully won’t take more than a couple of days. A good declutter, redo the sealant, sort out the marked grout, new toilet seat and look at fixing the plug hole on the sink should be enough. Then it’s a case of listing stuff on whatever site we decide on, car boot if it doesn’t sell, charity shop if it still doesn’t sell or if none of the above apply straight in the bin. Might start this before then as it might take my mind off other stuff.Right time to motivate myself

That sounds very sensible, and indeed wise
Hopefully if you keep asking the 'do you love it' questions of OH when going through stuff / his stuff he will gradually find it easier to let things go.
It sounds like you are both thinking it would be the right thing to leave where you are and that things need to happen (decluttering and minor DIY) to make that possible. Quite a big shift I think?

I think now we’ve made the decision, I feel a lot happier. OH added painting one of the walls in the bathroom and sugar soaping the rest.Went out last night with a friend had a lovely meal ( was planned before I decided I need to budget better) . Was lovely to catch up and have a giggle.Got to our holiday destination via seeing some friends on the way. I’ve not seen them since they moved. Was lovely to see them and enjoyed a tour round their garden. The heavens opened once we got to the cottage so enforced relaxation happened. Usually OH wants to go to the beach or go for a walk, so it was nice to just sit and relax and have a little snooze. 😴.Well time for tea now.Love 🐞

First anniversaries can be especially tough but you seem to have a good strategy to move forward.
