I’m not sure to be honest cherry fudge as I’ve never made it before. It’s a river cottage recipe. I think the liquidised apple is instead of the suet, it only has a shelf life of 12 months. All I know is OH is very much looking forward to mince pies later in the year. I’ll report back then.

Absolutely shattered. Went to the plot and came back with a trug of apples plus a couple of trays of pears and trug of potatoes. Harvested lettuces, more cucumbers( I will miss them but I’m sick of eating them), mint, carrots and beetroot. Watered the greenhouses and left the rest for the rain to water the rest.
Came home and made 3 apple and ginger crumbles, dehydrating some apple rings ( damaged ones) and made courgette, feta and mint cakes.
Taking some for the eldest when we meet up with them tomorrow. OH and the youngest are coming with me as my friend is unable to come. Spent £54.67 on petrol and that’s it for today.

I happened to have my River Cottage 'fruit' book on the table next to me as I've been making lots of jam - so I had a look but the only mincemeat there is cherry (and it does look tasty). I do like their recipes!

It’s in river cottage handbook no 2 - preserves. It’s a variation of the plum and russet mincemeat, cherryfudge.

*Dashes to bookshelf* I have that book! How did I forget? Yes, here it is! Ah - now to catch the plums at their best and get hold of a bag of russets before DH eats the lot! (They are his favourites).

They are OH favourite too cherryfudge.
Lovely start to the day, had a posse of spuggies in the garden flitting in and out the pond and hebe. Yoga done, breakfast had and now on a short but takes ages sniffy walk with miss giddychops. Age is catching up with her. Walks are not what they used to be. Everything has to be done at a sedentary pass and no smell is left unsniffed. Hence why I can type this while we walk.

Had a lovely day but very tired after 16,000 +steps. Met up with the eldest for a walk along an old railway line and handover the walking poles they wanted for their up and coming walking holiday and an apple and ginger crumble. We did go to the pub for much needed drink and more importantly a pee stop. When did pop get so expensive!!!! 3 soft drinks and a shandy came to just under £15. Anyway it was nice to do something other than visit the plot, although we did pop up to water. Tea was heated leftovers and crumble. Trug of potatoes washed and now drying.
Tomorrow’s walk is cancelled as we’re due rain and reorganised for next week.
Well time for sleep I think.
