Pulling my frugal pants on.

Thanks vintagehistorian , we certainly feel a lot happier that we have a rough plan. The youngest however is very remorseful and is coming home today as they have an assessment for counselling tomorrow.
Up at the plot trying to relax. So far sown spring onions and carrots for future meals. Fine weeded the beetroot, carrot and parsnip bed, no parsnips still. Going to resow those.Right break over time to plant out my lettuces.

So lettuces went in. Covered them with netting until they are established. Sowed sweetcorn 🤢 ( OH likes it), winter/spring psb and more lettuce. Really need some rain as our water barrels are almost empty. We are currently creating a couple areas that we can add more barrels ready for the winter deluge. Rhubarb has started to bolt. I have let a couple of plants have flower spikes but removed them from the rest.
OH first physio session went well, physio gave them some extra exercises to do as well as the ones given by the chiropractor. Currently no pain which is typical but then he has been off work for a month. Went back yesterday, so I’m sure it will raise its ugly head at some point. The youngest was very sheepish when they came in and was surprising helpful when asked😳. We’ll see how long it lasts.
Managed to tidy the house yesterday but really could do with a deep clean in a few areas. But not high on priority list at the moment.Frugalness for yesterday
1) Harvested cabbage and cauliflower from the plot for tea.
https://nomnompaleo.com/post/1356598429/worlds-best-braised-green-cabbage. This was surprisingly delicious . Pudding was rhubarb crumble and ice cream.😋
2) Sowed future food for meals
3) Free exercise walking miss giddychops and digging at the plot.
4) Reused a large drainage pipe to sow spring onions in.
5) Used reduced electric tariff to run car/ wm/ dw and charge battery pack..
6) Almost forgot started comfrey fertiliserRight best get back to emptying the shed of doom. Hopefully get it took down this week.

Frugalness for today some intended(2-6) and some not(1).
1) Met up with the youngests best friend to celebrate and they paid.
2) Breakfast was leftover pizza.
3) Tea was minted( freshly picked today)broad beans (last years) pate and toast
4) Harvested more rhubarb- made a crumble for my half sibling to take home with them tomorrow to say thank you for watering the plot whilst we were away. Also made rhubarb and custard crumble bars. Also sliced some very thinly and put it in the dehydrater.

Made these last night from the produce I brought back from the plot https://www.olivemagazine.com/recipes/baking-and-desserts/rhubarb-and-custard-crumble-bars/and this https://www.taste.com.au/recipes/broad-bean-mint-feta-dip/d453ecb8-e0c4-4250-8655-32db105e1534
although I use 200g of feta, less oil and a pinch of chilli flakes. The recipe I use is out a book but this is the nearest one I could find on the internet.

I forgot all about that KK.
Another morning at the plot. Shed of doom is no more. OH is going to use parts of it for other project up there. I managed to fed my witches brew to the strawberries and then netted them to stop the 🐦⬛ helping themselves. Just hoping the woodlice don’t get there before me. Managed to strim most of the paths and then it got just too 🥵 . The youngests hay fever has been horrendous today.Frugalness for today
1) Used nature’s tumble dryer
2) We will try and use as much of the old shed for other projects
3) Pudding contained rhubarb 🤣 again.
4) Free exercise- walking miss giddychops and carrying umpteen watering cans around the plot.
5) The meat for tea was ys.
Hoping we get the predicted rain tomorrow

We had some news today the youngest has first dibs on a supported housing apartment. They are in the process of moving the current tenant to a more appropriate place. I only called to say to put them on the list and one is available. The youngest is elated as we do their head in apparently 🤣. We don’t know how long it will take but probably this side of Christmas all being well. We are slightly apprehensive as it currently all males in the other apartments and they would be the only female. Anyway we will see what happens. Super pleased for them. Practically for us it has thrown a mega spanner in the works financially but they need to move on for our sanity so we will just deal with the outcome. Need to find the paperwork regarding the expensive ramp and find out if the £5000 is connected to the youngest moving out or the house being sold.

That's amazing! I suppose there must be a few stages to go through, but they will probably want the place filled sooner to cover costs. Can Youngest visit and get a feel for it?I think a bit of sunshine is good for frugal living. (Cranky40)
