Pulling my frugal pants on.

  • Currently on hold with the council as the youngest almost fell while supporting them to get to the car. They’ve taken both of us out within the last month. Going to ask the council if they can assess us for a ramp for their wheelchair, so we’re not walking them to the car or hauling a heavy electric chair up and over a step and the door lip. They are just too big and unsteady on their feet. Upset I’m having to do this but it’s time. 20 minutes so far with crappy music.

Apparently they are referring the youngest for an emergency assessment as she is classed as at risk from falling. I wonder if their definition of emergency is the same as mine🤣.
Had a lovely afternoon with my friend £5.50 for 2 cuppas. Had a good whinge about our kids, a good chunter about how life is treating us and a good laugh at ourselves. Love spending time with her as she always makes me smile and we’ve supported each other through some tough times.
Unable to visit the plot as my neck is sore from this morning, so going to binge watch some tv and relax.

I hope there's good news for your friend and that eldest has had a productive day.

Let's hope 'emergency' includes insightful assessors who wield power in ramp-building places. It must be upsetting for you, but you're wise to ask. Better safe than sorry, as they say - and you also need to look out for your back: electric wheelchairs ain't lightweight.

Thanks cherryfudge, a friend of ours has offered to build us a ramp if we get turned down.
Sm shop came under budget and included 6 bottles of wine- £110.96. Called at b and q for canes for peppers as the are starting to keel over with the weight of peppers 🫑-£4. Nipped into the great outdoors shop and they are having a sale on camping stuff. So, OH and the eldest have chosen a new tent-£135 ready for their walking adventure. Not cost me anything as OH has used his birthday money  🥳 . Had a lovely evening playing games with the kids and then relaxed reading my book.
The plan today is yoga 🧘‍♂️, then mad people are going for a run whilst I nip to the plot for blackberries for breakfast before I help the youngest tackle the pit. Looks like it’s going to be a hot one.

You must be further south than us - tons of blackberries here but only just starting to turn red. (Yorkshire).

Have a lovely day - with weather like this you can pretend it's a holiday!

The pit was mainly cleaned by the youngest which was a huge surprise. They wanted to do as much as they could on their own.
Really miffed with UC. I had a phone call with them a couple of months ago and they said we would get it till the youngest was 20 (8 months) as long as they stayed in education till then. However , got a message to say it ends at the end of August.  When I spoke with them I wasn’t convinced, but took them at their word. So instead of 8 months to tighten the belt slowly, it’s going to have to be a sharp yank. Totally panicking whilst OH is super laidback and has misplaced faith in my rubber money stretching skills. £400 odd is a lot to find.

That's not kind of them at all. :( Might it be worth contacting them to say that's not what you were told by their department? Could it be that they haven't taken youngest's disability into consideration?

    I hope they're wrong.
