Fibre to the property (FTTP) - inconvenience

My road and pavement is currently being dug up (apparently by "Virgin") for fibre - I am assuming that Virgin will not let other providers use their fibre - so we will have to go through the inconvenience over and over again when BT/TalkTalk and the others go through the procedure ?
Why can't someone realise that the fibre from cabinet to property is "standard" and shareable ?

virgin is completely separate from openreach so its not coming from an openreach cabinet and is therefore not shareable.0

BT will use FTTP infrastructure when it is upgraded by Openreach.
In our area that was simply replacing copper cables with fibre to the existing telegraph poles.

Nexfibre Networks is part of the same group of complies as Virgin (Liberty Global). Their network is separate from Openreach and Virgin choose not to make their network available to other ISP (unless thats changed) They could be using Openreach ducts if they are paying to do so

No ducts - they spent yesterday, digging a trench the whole length of my road in the pavement (the road itself is concrete so impossible to trench !)

Perhaps you should ask them what they are installing and why they are poking about inside a Openreach cabinet (if it is an openreach cabinet)1 -

Openreach FTTP doesn’t come from a cabinet ( the copper cabinet or the ‘fibre to the cabinet’ FTTC , cabinet .
Virgin can and do use Openreach ducts and joint boxes using PIA ( physical infrastructure access ) if they want to , but if they don’t they may excavate for ducts etc themselves.Even if using PIA they can excavate for their own ducts and boxes to link their own network into the Openreach network2
