If you renew in time, there shouldn't be a lost month.
  • I've never had an issue with a missing month between renewals, but I also renew as early as I can. Wouldn't be surprised if Halifax have some sort of technical limitation that led to it being set up this way.

Ok I have a conclusion on this.

So they've acknowledged some months should've been paid but weren't - so their fault.

Question mark over September & October.

The response given is that it was renewed in September which although all the criteria was met in September (£1.5k credit, stay in credit, spend £500) - this is why the £5 reward wasn't paid in September (because the reward was renewed in September).

They say 30 days need to be given which is why a reward also wasn't paid in October (but isn't that then 61 days??) so the next payment due is November.

Maybe this is correct. Wouldn't be the first time a CS-representative gave incorrect info though.
To get the reward in September, all the criteria (including Rewards being activated) must be met in August. If it was renewed in September, possibly the Rewards had lapsed in August, so no payment.
To get the reward in October, all the criteria must be met in the period between renewal and the end of September. Presumably at least some of the £1.5k credit and/or spend £500 happened before the renewal, so no payment in October.
I'm making presumptions there, but they would explain why no payments.

This is something to watch out for, if you do the transfer and payments on the 1st and notice later in the month that it needs renewing then you should do the transfer and payments again.

Thanks. I think this may be the answer.

All credits & payments are done on the 1st of the month.

The reward renewal will have been after this.

Although in one case Halifax are saying the reward was renewed 2 days ago which is absolute nonsense since 1) I do the renewing so I have a rough idea & I renewed nothing 2 days ago and 2) track your rewards says September '24 is the renewal date now .... so it was renewed in September '23 and NOT 2 days ago as they claim.

Oh wow, Halifax's secure messaging team are woeful.

So trying to investigate why my mother hasn't received her £5 reward & it's like every single reply seems to contradict the previous reply.

So they've gone from saying she doesn't qualify for October's because it was renewed in September (so this implies if you renew you need to wait 2 months for the reward - yep I'm aware of what you guys said earlier, I'm just commenting on how Halifax are putting it forward).
Anyway, so she doesn't qualify for an October reward to now they're saying she's been paid the October reward.

Well that's an interesting one since the online statement does not show the reward at all, so they were asked if they can prove she's received the reward since she can prove that she hasn't. What day was this supposed payment made then??

Their response is that she wont receive any reward on the account (oh that's funny because she'd been receiving it just fine until June) because "you are only allowed 1 sole reward account, any others have to be joint" (hmm that's funny too because I & 3 other family members have 3 sole accounts as do many members here).

It's got to the stage that I think they're just actively trolling. They can't honestly be THAT bad, surely not.
