Am I missing something with Halifax Rewards?

I’ve just had a look on the chat as I realised I haven’t had the reward for a while, however as per the criteria, I spend on my credit card then pay off the balance so I don’t spend £500 a month on my debit card

Yes they doSamDude said:Pretty sure the Halifax to Halifax transfers don't count as 'external' payments?I consider myself to be a male feminist. Is that allowed?1 -
Nonsense. Halifax has always accepted transfers from other Halifax accounts (and BoS) for the purposes of income for Rewards35har1old said:
It's always been that £1500 has to come from a outside source and not from internal transfer.Had you set them up as standing orders and Halifax has only become aware that they where being transferred from a internal sourceB0bbyEwing said:So for however long it was, I paid £500 & I got my £5. No problem.
I'd been having a feeling something wasn't quite right with my Halifax accounts (I don't keep too close a tab on them) & now I've seen it's not been right for a while.
Around 2-3 months ago I noticed that I hadn't received £5 for the month. I took a look & I should've renewed the reward - which I did for each & every account I manage. Job done ... so I thought.
Earlier this month I even took a look at "Track your rewards extra" .... which said I was on track to get the £5 for spending £500.
Thing is, I haven't received £5 since June.
I have 3x accounts with Halifax. £2000 goes in to #1 from an external source, then to Halifax #2 then to Halifax #3, back to source. I know the requirement is only £1500 but for the banks I'm with, £2000 is the top requirement (Lloyds) so that gets put through everything.
The £500 is met through NS&I.
I stay in credit.
Is there some missing/changed criteria that I'm just not grasping which is causing me to not get my £5 reward?
Have you been charged the £3 fee?I consider myself to be a male feminist. Is that allowed?3 -
That's what I was wondering. Has the OP renewed the Reward by telling Halifax how you want to receive them? They should have sent remindersWillPS said:
Have you missed a renewal on your Reward Extras? You have to opt in on an annual basis. You will have been sent a renewal invitation at some point.B0bbyEwing said:So for however long it was, I paid £500 & I got my £5. No problem.

@WillPS - yes I had, however that was 1)a few months ago which I rectified and 2) I still haven't had my £5 from it since. Oh and 3) I got no renewal reminder that I know of. Unless it went direct to the messages on the account which would be my fault as I don't check those. I do get occasional post from Halifax & it never came this way.
Either way, as I say, the reward tracker says I'm in line to receive my £5 for the month & payment was always 12th of the month and it hasn't happened since June. Looking at my history I've been meeting the criteria to my knowledge. They do go straight to your messages if you have paperless turned on. This has caught me out once before, now I'm in the habit of checking once a month to see if any of my accounts need renewing, and I ask my fiancee to do the same (you can check by looking for the test 'choose your next reward extra' (or similar) on the tracker page).Apart from this, you shouldn't rely on the tracker, it's very flawed and laggy; it keeps trying to track rewards for a joint account we had which used to be an Ultimate Reward but is now a (non-Reward) Current Account. I suspect something similar is going on here. For clarity - is this the 'extras' page where it says just says 'On track' 'Not on track' for all your accounts or the page which you see when you tap that 'on track'/'not on track' text?0 -
I think this internal, external thing could go on all day so probably best we put it to bed. Those of us who do internal transfers know that they work. Those who say they have to be from an external source - let them think that if they want to argue the case. We know what we've been doing & we know it's been working so that's that.
I'm on their app chat now hoping to get somewhere.
Yes I renewed the reward & I told them I want to receive £5 and I want to receive it by spending £500.
Also to confirm what I'm referring to then (on a PC) I click
My current account options > track your reward extras
From here it says:Good news, you’re on track to get your £5 cash offer for spending £500.
Your Reward Extras offer
Stay on track for your £5 cash offer - check your progress below.
You've spent at least £500 with your debit card this month.
You’ve paid at least £1,500 into your account this month.
You’ve kept your balance at or above £0 each day this month so far.I've checked in the past when it's said I'm not on track & once I've then checked, I've seen that I forgot to spend £500 on the account - so I rectified it & it then said I am on track (so for me it's been pretty reliable in terms of accuracy).
@WillPS I know you said you ask your wife to check. I actually manage 5 family members Halifax accounts (i know i know - not supposed to) and all have experienced the same.
Hopefully live chat can shed some light on it.

Oh they've finally responded.
The account is somehow marked as requiring £5000 & is why I didn't receive the £5.
Interesting because I was very careful in my selection as I didn't want to click £5000 balance in error when I meant to click spend £500 - so I know what I've selected.
So either I want them to change this or I'll be raising a complaint as I know what I selected & it isn't a case of "you must've accidentally...".0 -
If this was the case, why did your tracking information not say "you've not held your balance above £5k"B0bbyEwing said:Oh they've finally responded.

I'm getting the feeling that this is another case of where a customer service representative tells you 'something' because telling you something is better than telling you nothing & who cares if it's accurate or not.1 -
You used to be able to transfer funds between halifax accounts to meet the monthly credit requirement by using your overdraft on one reward account then returning the money instantly back to clear the overdraft in seconds ..
I usually did this during working hours but I dont think that mattered .
Not sure if it still works but will find out in a few days when the tracker updates .
