No catch i've just changed my dogs food
Its really kind of you.
The Hula Animal Sanctury in Aspley Guise is always grateful for donated food (or anything else for that matter). They take in stray cats, dogs, donkeys, goats, rabbits etc.0 -
Probably pretty obvious, but I was buying my African Greys food in small bags from the pet shop when the owner actually offered to sell me it in bulk bags saving me a fortune!! I just use newspaper in the bottom of his cage.
Also when I had my kittens years ago we were on a low wage and the Cats protection league paid for them to be neutered and vaccinated.0 -
Hi,
We buy our cat food from ALDI. They offer a cat food range that's pretty cheap, but is also "premium" branded. They basically appear to be a copy of something like Whiskas (i.e. they offer a "supermeat" and "chunks in gravy" etc), but at quite a bit lower price. I think it's around 33p or 35p for a 400g tin and is called VitaCat Supreme. They also do dry food, treats and the pate food in the same range.

My cat is finnicky he will only he tinned tuna - tesco blue stripe is fine by him, fortunately, which actually works out cheaper than tins of catfood. My local co-op sells individual cans, but I used to buy enormous bags of biscuits from my local vet.

I have two mini schnauzers, and, because they don't moult like other dogs its important to keep them healthy as they are prone to skin conditions
when i bought them my vet said to feed them chappie, its one of the cheapest dog foods around and isn't full of artificial additives, and also give them boiled rice with it which we do (works out much cheaper than mixer biscuits if you buy in bulk). He also said to give them a 400g of sardines in oil once a week, as it stops them getting constipated and the fish oil is really good for them.
As a special treat, we strip the fat from our sunday roast , cut it into small strips and grill it until its all crispy - this will last the week usually, but occassionally we boil them some liver and cut it into cubes - all very very cheap.
Shame the M & S pet insurance premiums increased though!I am a Mortgage Adviser

We shread the bills for bedding for our gerbils. Just got a new rotastak house for them off freecycle. Stuff such as straw and gerbil food is excellent value from wilkinsons. The gerbil/hamster balls are also cheaper there. Toilet and kitchen tubes are good toys as are new pieces of plumbing, plastic pipe. The best bargains are priceless!!!!!!!!!! :T :T :T0

Hi,
I have a rather large house cat called Mack who needs to go on a diet. He is on Iams fish biscuits, any suggestions on a low cal dry biscuit thats value for money.
He only seems to like fish flavoured biscuits and can smell an unopenned can of tuna a mile awayI'd rather be fishing....0 -
I wanted to get my cats a bed that was covered because they like sleeping under something in the dark but they were all sooo expensive.
So I bought 2 pet houses from Poundland. They are only cheap cube shaped things with a doorway at the front, I put a pillow in each & my cats love them! They also fold up for easy storage. (We travel a lot & take the new cube beds & cats with us)
They also like clothes pegs & a table tennis ball in an empty bath! Mummy to Charlie & 2 beautiful twins due on Valentine's Day
