We have two dogs, the frontline we buy for flea control is very expensive,so I decided to share a dose between them, they have been flea free for 4 months now, considering the hot summer we have had I think its great,it means its a bit more affordable.0

Don't buy Frontline from the vet's. I was quoted 24GBP for 6 treatments for 10-20 kilo dog from Scatts that's as cheap as buying in France.
We have two dogs and the smaller one also shares the Frontline.
We use dry food from Costco - Wagg or Irish Rover I think - about 7GBP + vat. But are now trying Scatts own brand working dog feed about 9GBP no vat. There is no vat on dog feed for working dogs.
Most dogs will eat whatever is put in thier bowl - eventually........0 -
For cheap pet food biscuits have a look at Wilkinson 10KG bag of cat biscuits for £10.99, lasts our 2 cats about 4/5 months, you will have to ask at customer services to get a sack, and they'll need the final product code number for the till which is 6.0

Never thought of Wilkinsons for dog food, dont go in there that often but will check out the dog food now.“A budget is telling your money where to go instead of wondering where it went.” - Dave Ramsey0

Hi pipcola,
I have never heard of scatts, are they nation wide or online?0 -
We used to get our dogs medication from Belgium. Frontline was about £15 for 6 doses (Dogs up to 20kg). Epiotic for the ears was real cheap around £8, so was Drontal. Even the "real" medication like optimunne and the one for his arthritis was less than half the price. I never had a prescription, just walked in and asked for the medication, but it might be a good idea to take a vet's prescription if you go travelling.
The other thing is try getting your dog on a dry diet, not cans, as this works out cheaper. Although I know some dogs (ours for instance) HATE dry food and will not touch it unless it is laced with some kind of meat!
Oh, the other thing, if you want to save on vet bills, some dogs get very bad breath and have tartare problems which can be VERY expensive. Half a stick of Denta-stix will freshen their breath and try to brush their teeth if you can, it will be quite a saving!0 -
For dogs, try Jollyes own brand nuggets. They come in a 15kg bag for approx £6.50
This lasts my dog for approx 6 weeks. Available in beef or chicken and veg flavours.

Hiya Bulchy
I would be interested in your BARF diet. Can you publish the info here please.
Also we have an African Grey parrot and cross shredded paper (from the office) goes in the bottom of his cage and those very versatile toilet roll inners keep him occupied. He also loves chewing up small branches so he really appreciates the odd one from our apple tree - some trees are poisonous so be careful.Dot0
