Hope you feel better soon ASB
Gosh, Valli, stay safe re the flooding. Hope your innards sort themselves out quickly. Storm Barbet seems to have blown away from here now - quite a nice sunny day it's been and not too cold.
Drug dealer delivered around 9.30 as per usual. Have deep cleaned the bathroom and feel pleased with myself. It looks a lot better.I am the leading lady in the movie of my life

it’s really bad. kids have made it home, DD had to follow her nose to get out of Steel City via side roads (hills) as main road flooded. leisure centre is emergency refuge. Big shops flooded inc M&S, the Lidl i usually use, Curry’s, B&m and more. Think my work has escaped it, luckily. Towns and villages round about also suffered.

Forgot to mention the unscheduled phone call to the vet this avo. The dog decluttered five rashers of streaky bacon from the kitchen worktop at lunchtime when my back was turned...I'd put three rashers out of a pack of eight in the air fryer to cook a bacon sarnie for DS as he came over for lunch.
I wasn't quite ready for my lunch so didn't cook any more (planning to do it a bit later) but left the rest of the packet on the worktop instead of putting it in the fridge. Turned my back for a couple of minutes and they were gone in 20 seconds. All that was left was the plastic wrapping and a smug looking dog lying on the settee trying to project the image that, of course, she'd done nothing wrong...
Vet fortunately says that it's OK, streaky bacon is not toxic for dogs but watch out for potential squits, vomit and thirst. I've been monitoring all three symptoms constantly since but she seems to be fine.

Get well soon, asb x
Very relieved to hear that your DD is home, Valli x
We've had very heavy rain here all day, but there was no sign of flooding on the main roads as I drove home at 1.00. I think the worst of the storm must have passed some way to the east of us, as DH says some railway lines on the other side of the big city have turned into canals. With rain continuing tomorrow, t's not going to be much fun manning an outside stall at our local canal navigation trust's Open Day, but I've checked all their websites and FB, and so far it hasn't been cancelled. Frankly, I would rather stay at home, but duty calls.
I am struggling to finish the display board that I promised to do, but will go and make myself a coffee soon and then hope to find more inspiration. I did venture outside during a "dry" spell this afternoon to cut some branches off the hazel tree for another part of the display... Mad!
I can only report minimal flying this week, but that included 4x WM today (essentials, plus some bedding that hadn't been changed last week).
Hope the weekend brings better health/weather/moods xxx7 -
So DS1 has driven to Newcastle with the horse box for work and told me that trying to hold it in the right lane up the A19 was a challenge. He is about to set off back again, and now its dark too.
Relaxing Friday night? Not a chance.
Healing vibes ASB and Valli.
Hope everyone is dry safe and warm x9 -
Morning all.
Hope DS1 got back ok YSL. Also hope that flooding is receding. It's still raining here. It hasn't stopped since yesterday morning but this afternoon is supposed to be dry.
I have been awake since 5.20 so after an hour thought I may as well get up so here I am having first cuppa. Will potter about. DGD1 is here today so lots of playing to be done later.
Have a great day everyone.Spend less now, work less later.8 -
Morning all xx
I hope everyone is safe, warm and dry - with all family members ditto.
I had to drive home a different way again after work- my usual route was closed whilst they made trees safe! Took twice as long but made it and glad to get in and shut the door on the week!
A relaxing evening with pizza in the oven for tea and an NCIS binge.Ever so slightly miffed at waking up at 5am. I stayed in bed until just after 6 but there were no more zzzzzs for me, so I'm up, made my bed, and had a brew. Earlier than on a work day...but heyho.
Another brew is called for. Anyone up and want to join me?
