Programmes missing on EPG Sony TV with Humax Box

The EPG on my Sony TV with Humax box connected has been perfect for the three years I have had both.  Out of the blue the EPG is not showing all programmes.  It means that I cannot see some of the programmes and cannot record them.

What I don't understand is that it seems to be an intermittent problem because, although never back to normal,  some channels go back to normal - but never for long.

For the channels which do show there is no problem.  I could find out how to retune but I wonder if that would mean that I would lose the programmes I have already saved but have not watched.

I have an older Humax Box and a Panasonic TV in my bedroom and the EPG is unaffected and still shows all the programmes there.

About three years ago, when I needed a new outside/roof aerial, the 'Aerial man' put a boosterr box in my loft.

If anyone can think of a reason why I have lost EPG on my Sony/ Humax Box I would be pleased to try to fix it - if at all possible without losing my existing recorded programmes.

I am not good at fixing technical things but would be willing to try if I could find easy to understand instructions.  I hope to try to sort it, with help, tomorrow.

Thank you for any help.

Is it always the same channels that vanish or is it random?

Can you tune the tv without tuning the box?

I can rise and shine - just not at the same time!

I think it is random and not always the same channels, thanks twopenny.  Later today I'll get my instruction manuals out and try to retune the TV -  I have never done that before.  I hope not to lose my recorded programmes as I have saved quite a few to see me through the darker winter nights.

It seems strange that my bedroom, much older Humax Box and TV, are unaffected.  The aerial is on the roof and the booster box, which is in the loft has never been touched as I don't go up there.

I am hoping not to go out today so should have plenty of time to try the retuning later today.  It's good of you to reply and I'll post back later.

For clarity, is the EPG running on the TV or the box? I am guessing the box, in which case the TV is irrelevant.

Check which antenna you are receiving the broadcast from, it could be it has an intermittent fault.

Retuning will have no effect on recorded programmes.

Thanks very much for the really helpful link, MattMattMattUK.  It says Black Hill and 139 Freeview Channels.  I think the EPG runs on my Humax Box.  I had taped over something on the Sony remote quite some time ago because I kept pressing on the wrong "thing" and I always view television via the Humax Remote Control.  I have to press the Sony Remote when switching the TV on, then the Humax and then only use the Humax Remote. It does not make any difference if I press the white/red Freeview button or, the "Guide" button below it on the Humax Remote as both show the missing EPG programmes.

I am glad of any help.  I checked twice about an hour ago.  Both times some EPG programmes were missing but, second time, more programmes were missing than the first time this morning.  I also checked, again, my bedroom Humax and TV (both older models) and ithey still working normally with the full EPG guide.

I am really glad of any help, thanks.

I retuned the Humax Box (following instructions) and, unfortunately, still some EPG missing.  I'll have a break now and try again this afternoon.  Thank you for replying.

I regularly retune our Humax box and delete all the channels we never watch. Can’t see any point on leaving them on the programme screen

Tlhanks baser999.   I don't usually change anything and this  is why I can't understand why, out of the blue, the EPG shows no information for a good number of the channels - even the ones I use every day such as BBC1 sometimes show "No programme information available."

FWIW my "Bush" PVR is doing the same, with very few programmes now showing on the EPG despite them being available
I retuned last week only because I wanted a clear out of a lot of recording times.
But on retune, like you, very few channels on EPG

I can watch via the PVR if I type channel number in, 1 for BBC1 or 103 ITV HD for instance, so the channels are there via ariel, just not showing on EPG

Like you, I have EPG showing all on my TV, but do not have functional recording readily available for TV

I'm on Southern [Rowridge IOW] transmitter
Not sure if coincidence or maybe deeper reasons connected to the TV broadcasting network?

This is interesting because, after my sockets were switched off recently my EPG went off but it is back to normal now.  When the supply was restored my Humax box took a minute or so before coming on.
