  • Little update.......

15th December I was told a formal complaint was being filed and I would hear back (probably via letter?!) within 10 working days.

    Shock horror no such correspondence.

So.......another message has gone in, they have offered me the princely sum of £12.40 to which my answer was er....no.

Told them I have spent hours on this and they SHOULD or have spent a lot of time on this and I would like a higher figure to be offered (hold my hand up to bare faced cheek).

Answer? We can only offer that or register a complaint for you......and you may get feedback.

Thats what was said a month ago, in fact its less than was said a month ago. I'm going to end up going into branch, they are so so poor.
Where did they get 12.40 from? Was that the exact loss or something? Nonetheless - seems pretty stingy, especially given the inconvenience faced in getting back in touch.
£2.40 missing cashback (which I've explained/tried to explain wasn't missing as such as I simply had to use my card for some other purchase) plus a tenner goodwill.

I am trying it on tbh but every time I speak to them I'm amazed at how ineffective they are, there are now 4 separate conversations, none of which have done a thing, not to mention the telephone call which pretty much ended up with the colleague and me shouting at each other.

I always find that shouting at customer service reps is the best way to get them on your side so that they do their best to make sure your problem is expedited and resolved in a timely fashion.

    Hahaha I know!

This particular colleague wouldn't accept there was a 5% debit card offer and started getting louder and louder in her protestations, telling me I was wrong.

Unfortunately to get a word in I got louder too.......hope they recorded it I'd love to hear it played back!

Had enough of Barclays now, found out last night (I had no idea) they've closed my nearest branch - one that was always busy. Thats 7 or 8 local ones they've closed in the last few years.

Off to Co op Bank next. Shout at them instead 😉

Then off to Barclays again to file a DSAR to get said call recording - if you really would like to hear it back! 😂

I still cannot believe how bad their customer service is, I really pity people who have really important issues that need dealing with if this is a taster.

Finally got resolution to my missing Welcome cashback for Dec after having been on chat a couple of times and getting the usual lack of comprehension from the Chat team (and frustratingly slow responses and chat system outages).  Got so fed up I got them to register a complaint.  Got a callback from very pleasant person from Complaints team the following working day. They said they would put £10 in my account for the missing cashback and a further £30 for inconvenience so I'm happy (esp as money is now in the account).  If they had just put the £10 in my account after the first chat session I would have been happy and Barclays would have saved a lot of time and some money.

Just seen the new Coop Bank switch incentive offer, which fortunately I'm not excluded from due to previous incentive dates which makes a pleasant change, so bye bye Barclays (and thanks for all the fish cash)...

That's great to hear. I've registered a similar complaint for my missing £10 cashback for December. Still waiting for it despite being told by a customer service manager and receiving a letter from them stating that it will be paid. Apparently there's a huge backlog of complaints about Barclays cashback to get through.
I wasn't offered a penny for the inconvenience!  :'( I really just want my £10 so I can be rid of them!
  • Finally got a resolution. £52.40 has been paid into my current account. Feel a tad guilty but not necessarily to the Bank itself.

No idea what is going on with my cashback. Mine is still saying my pending cash back £9.69 despite spending over £200 early on in November. It’s not even rolled over into available cashback due to the new month. Not even sure if I make any transactions this month it’s gonna work.
So my November cashback moved to being available today, however I still only received £9.69 despite spending more than £200 on the card. As annoying as it is can’t be bothered to chase 31p

Well I attempted a transaction in December (well over 5 working days ago) to see if I would earn the 5% cashback, no surprise, I haven’t received any cashback. So I haven’t bothered using the debit card for the offer this month. Having worked for Barclays a number of years, I’m not surprised this offer has been a shower of ….

You used to be able to log a complaint through online banking (not the app) by sending a secure message, but I see they seem to have taken the secure message function away now. I would’ve done this to log a complaint but I can’t be bothered to log a complaint any other way.
Just logged into my Barclays app to see that the missing cashback from November, and the cashback I earned from the transactions I did in December (I attempted a few but as it didn’t appear to be working didn’t bother spending the full £200 to get the full £10 cashback) have now suddenly appeared as available cashback.. only issue now is that I have closed blue rewards and the account it was associated with, so I can’t transfer the cashback to my account to spend it.

Guess I’m just gonna use the option to donate it to charity

I also received my missing £10 cashback for December today. Just in time before my switch to TSB!
