EDF change meter from Dumb to Smart without permission.

If your meter was in Dumb mode prior to EDF's recent upgrade then check it still is. Their Data Communications Centre changed my electricity meter from dumb to smart without permission and have sent a reading to EDF. I rang EDF and they explained why and they will have it changed back to dumb. A complaints procedure has been initiated. Quite worrying the DCC can do this.

OK, I will bite....why is a meter sending a reading creating an issue for you?

It's not your meter, its their meter read any of the copious threads about meters
Perhaps I can charge them rent for the space it will use in my home in the same way I get paid for having electric poles in my garden?

Householders have a choice when their smart meter is installed. I chose to have mine installed in Dumb mode, which is my right. This can't be changed without my permission. Before you ask, I had a smart meter installed because my old meter had to be changed.

try, they probably will say fine we won't pay so will disconnect you and will charge you a tidy sum to reconnect. Wayleaves are a different thing altogether.
