Victoria Plum situation

Hoping this is an acceptable place to post this!
Looking for a bit of advice.
Earlier this year I arranged a new bathroom with Victoria Plum.  They were supposed to start a few weeks ago, but the shower base and some fixings were missing, so the installer ripped the old bathroom out, but I was told I would have to wait for everything to be delivered to me for them to install it.
I've had various headaches waiting for the delivery of that which still hasn't appeared, and now Victoria Plum has apparently been sold.
I saw a posting online that said:
"A statement from Ernst & Young says that any customers who have placed an order which is yet to arrive will not receive their products and will not get a refund unless it’s from their credit card provider."
Luckily I paid my deposit via credit card, so I can aim to claim that back, but is there any recourse for the fact that they've left me without a bathroom?

It would appear that Victoria Plum has been sold in a pre-pack administration deal - Basically, gone bust, and all the assets sold to another company. Anyone owed money or waiting for deliveries or work to be completed can now wave goodbye to their money.
You should be able to get a refund from your credit card, but you won't get any compensation for no bathroom or having to pay someone else to complete the work.
Her courage will change the world.

Treasure the moments that you have. Savour them for as long as you can for they will never come back again.
  • We too have been victims of Victoria plum going bust. We paid £1000 for a shower and enclosure. They took our money and within 5 days they went bust. The day before our delivery was due they were still sending emails to say it would arrive, at this stage we had no idea they they were going bust. The day our goods were due to arrive the tracking messages were all removed. We sadly paid via PayPal so don’t know if we have any recourse ( we have filed in the form in their resolution centre). The other galling things are 1) We paid for an extra delivery man to take all of our items upstairs and 2) Ernst and Young are crowing at what a great job they have done in negotiating a pre-pack which basically means that Victoria Plum carry on trading with no liabilities under new ownership . So basically our money seems to have been legally stolen😡

Surely PayPal buyer protection will cover you?

    Yep, it's legalised theft

But would the new company thrive under those conditions?
Would people order from a company that did that?
If it was made public on social media that would hit their bottom line. Not that in any way I'm suggesting that you do.

If it's a simple card refund, then it's possible the whole amount will be refunded (I had to request a refund a while back and it was very difficult to go into detail on the form. I did say they could contact me for more info but my card just refunded me the transaction) - meaning the difference between what's been delivered and what was ordered might not match exactly.

  • Frustratingly my plumber ordered bathroom furniture from VP after they went into administration because they haven’t made it clear on their website. (It’s about 2 levels down and when he rang to order on the 5th October no one told him either) I’m gobsmacked they would still be trading knowing they can’t fulfill any orders.
  • So I have also been affected by this VP situation. Ordered approx £3000 worth of stuff - 2 bathrooms to kit out. I received an email stating that my delivery has been cancelled but that there would be a new delivery date. Have not received new email with new date but when I tracked the delivery was given 2 Nov as the new date. Am I being naive to expect that the new company will honour this? They seemingly have transferred all assets and staff so why would the staff not simply carry on doing the job they were doing before and why would the new company risk sullying their reputation by reneging? By 2 Nov I would still be within 120 days to claim via charge back or s75 if that applies ( paid on visa debit) so I am inclined to wait. Would be grateful for any helpful and informed responses.
  • Hard to find on the website, look at the link for latest news. States orders will not be fulfilled

I think that is because the Administrator has to state that - legalese in other words but yeah, I am very worried as cant afford to lose that money and have an ongoing tightly budgeted build in process. Sleepless night last night.
