Additional expenses today have been accrued.
£62 (it's actually £61 something but I can't remember the exact figure) for DS1's passport - he's going to France with school so we need to get it sorted.
£12.50 for full birth certificate for me - to allow us to apply for the passport. Sigh.
Also got his GHIC (and mine) applied for too.

In other news I've started some new medication. Went to our family exercise class this morning and it was like exercising with new lungs. I genuinely couldn't believe it. Even now I feel like I can take a bigger breath...it's really strange. I really really hope this is the future for me. If it is, I genuinely may cry.

I’ve ordered the tester stuff from SMOL. Let’s see what happens.

Woman down. Lurgy hit. Awful head cold and sinusitis. The SMOL stuff arrived, but I've not done anything with it yet (due to lurgy).

DH has however, sold a kids chair we haven't used for years - one of those Ikea Poang ones. So that's additional space cleared. And £5 for the pot.

Mostly outside of that, it's just been trying to keep my head above water and survive if I'm being 100% honest. This week has been a struggle. However, because I've been following the TOM method, the house actually isn't in that bad of a state. The worst hit bit is the laundry if I'm honest.

I did use my time constructively though. I designed an Annual Leave spreadsheet to help me keep track of my leave and forecast for when I want to take it for the year ahead. I've moved DS1's passport application forward - just need to post the docs tomorrow now (birth certificates). I've also started work on the scary brown envelop for DS1 as well. I bloomin hate that. I'm hoping this time it will come back the same and stay with him until he's 16 so I don't have to do it again. Then it would be PIP o'clock. Although I'm acutely aware DS2's is up for renewal next year so I'll have it to do again anyway...sigh.

The lurgy sounds miserable, get better soon I hope and well done for doing anything when feeling ill like that.

So things got worse. Felt okay Monday morning, logged on, did an hour at work and then doubled over in agony. Absolutely awful stomach pain, then in it moved round to my back. Was thinking the worst and contemplating hospital…but then threw up everywhere. Decided to take strong painkillers, get a hot water bottle and have a nap. Still felt rubbish after but was much better than I was. Pain had pretty much gone…just a dull pain as opposed to the crippling sharp pain of earlier. Then all my sinuses and head cold came back with a vengeance. So, I've pretty much slept since Monday and have done very little else.

I have one of those jobs where nobody picks up your work when you are off though and being off is more stressful than being at work, so I don't feel overly rested and relaxed if I'm honest. Sigh.

I've just been told my grandma has been rushed into hospital again. She's been being sick and it's mainly blood, so at 96, we shall see what happens with that. I wouldn't be surprised if she's fine…it's not her first rodeo with this, but given her age it's obviously a delicate situation which could go either way.

Honestly, 2026, so far isn't giving the 'joyful' year I was hoping for. The world has also gone mad (my nephew obviously is a non-US citizen living in the US), which is also stressing me out. I did think his appearance would offer him some protection initially, I'm growing increasingly doubtful however. He doesn't seem too worried, but then I don't think he'd tell me even if he was.

I was back at work this week, but honestly wish I hadn't bothered - it's really rough at the minute. Lots of pressure and it's just a lot. Cannot wait until the reorganisation kicks in at the start of April. I just need to make it to April now. Sigh.

DS1's passport came, his and my GHIC cards also came and his trip is all paid off. Sooo he's ready to go (I'll hate him being gone, but I'm so proud he's going - it's such a massive step for him). He had a PSHE day at school yesterday and they were doing all about drugs and cancer etc. Inevitably they did about lung cancer. He had a complete shutdown apparently and wasn't able to talk to anyone. So he was brought down to learning support and missed the rest of that bit. They gave him sensory and re-regulation time, but he did really struggle. It's only 2 months since the funeral though, so I'm not massively surprised he struggled with it.

DS2 also had a tough week. He was meant to do a dance competition - he had an absolute meltdown about it. So he ended up staying in school and not going. So it's been a pretty heavy week for him too.

I had my smear test yesterday (lucky me, I know). They said they do them every 5 years now (unless there is an issue), so that is hopefully done for a while. Fingers crossed. I've also remembered to put a request for repeat prescriptions in for my meds - yay me.

Went to our family exercise class this morning and it all went a bit wrong. DS2 had to leave because he felt sick. Then DS1 started feeling sick whilst we were gone. So it was a bit of a washout. That said, we were able to renew our membership for the next 12 months. So that's one less thing to worry about. Although my bank balance is crying.

Things I've paid out so far this month:

    1. Membership to the leisure place.
    2. DS1's France trip balance.
    3. Deposit for DS2's residential.
    4. Music lessons for the next term (DS1).
    5. Breakdown cover

I still need to pay the remainder of the balance for the Yorkshire holiday. Honestly, I may cry…money is just flying out of the house at the minute. I know it's all 'wants' rather than 'needs' for the most part. But you get my point.

Anyway, 4 more days of work and then I'm off for a week essentially. Just got to make it through to the end of the day on Thursday…nearly there.

I made it through to the holidays. It's been a fairly quiet one because we are all absolutely exhausted. I did get the kids out to play badminton, play on the park, take out a boat and to go and do Archery on Thursday, with a quick trip to the 'zoo' thrown in for good measure.

Then today we did our usual family exercise class and Archery tag. So they've had some stuff to do. We are also looking after the neighbours bearded dragon atm.

I'm absolutely done in though. Really ready for Easter. I'm working a little more than I usually would, but as I'll be in my new team I'm hoping it won't be quite a chaotic as usual. Fingers crossed.

I have soooo many chores still to do though, it's a good job the kids don't actually go back until Tuesday. I think we will probably spend the time at home - minus dog walks. The weather is looking a bit pants anyway. I would have taken them swimming but DS1 is still undergoing treatment for his verruca's and he doesn't want to go. I get it, it stands out a bit when you have a sock on doesn't it? I'm not pushing him. Besides which when we go away at easter, we'll be in the pool daily and have it all to ourselves - so it's not like we are missing out.

I need to call up the GP's to arrange an appointment for DS1 - I want to get him on the pathway for ADHD assessment. He's really struggling with his processing now and I can see it's really starting to impact him.

Well one more month left in my current role and then it's all change. We find out more about what the plans for the future and transitions are tomorrow, so we shall see what that actually looks like. Someone told a colleague it's going to be life changing in a positive way. I won't hold my breathe…call me a cynic.

I've paid off the remaining balance for the Yorkshire holiday, so that's super exciting. 6 weeks to go. I'm so beyond ready for this holiday, it's ridiculous.

The weather is starting to dry, so time to start hitting the allotment. Was hoping to get down their yesterday, but it rained all day. Moan, moan.

Just homework and chores left to get through today. I'm soooo tired, so just going to plod through, I'm not rushing.
