If you had workmen over to do a job for you and they asked to use the loo I'm sure you would say yes. I think taking the approach that a loo is new and therefore you should be the first to pee in it is taking things a bit too far. Might be different if the workmen cooked a full roast dinner in the oven and then used the dishwasher afterwards.0 -
Is it a reasonable request for me to cancel the reservation and then re-reserve a flat once construction is complete? I don’t think those flats are going anywhere in the next 6 months given the current market conditions.0

However we are not in that pickle yet building industry appears to be holding up with houses selling. But it's a fine balance all heads down for the interest rate holding or reducing.
For reference We know the builders had a pee in all our sanity wear (all four wet rooms) and worse lol0 -
As others have said, could definitely be worse. My brother's a plumber and has had a lot of work over the last few years replacing nearly-new poor quality bathrooms on a nearby new-build estate. At one house, he removed some boxing-in and found a water bottle filled with wee hidden behind it.0

My parents moved into a house and found bricks and rubble under the bath. When we moved in here, we found unlabelled hydrochloric acid in the lean-to and a box of KFC bones in the boarded-up sitting room fireplace. It's not just new builds which get rubbish etc hidden from view.2

However, it's as it is. As I previously suggested, ask for the property to be thoroughly cleaned without going into details; or if this is a big deal for you, re-think your options. You are unlikely to buy a property that no-one has ever urinated or defecated in tbh so you need to decide how you can deal with that.It's not an unusual "hang up" by the way; we have a motorhome and there are a surprising number of people who will buy a used MH but have the bathroom fully replaced because they won't use a toilet/shower that someone else has used. Personally, I think a good clean with a steam cleaner will sort it out to an acceptable standard,
I do wonder how some people manage to stay in a hotel - a bed someone else has used, bathroom someone else has used, towels someone else has used etc. etc. What happens when they're out and about and need a loo? The mind boggles.
