I think YBS are a good institution they just needed to communicate the changes better.

That's interesting, so you have been told two different things looking back at your earlier comments regarding the setting up of new DDs.

Reviving this old thread to advise that I've just noticed on my online account (not app) that the option to set up (and view/edit existing!) deposits by Direct Debit has reappeared on my account that previously allowed these options – “By direct debit” under the “Deposit” menu option.

Thought I'd post in case someone else found it useful.

Is there any advantage with these other than to provide direct debits for current account porting/perks?

You can deposit by debit card (on the website not app) useful for accounts that you either need to make a number of card transactions or spend a certain amount by card to qualify for a reward.

You may mean DC choice, not DD.  I personally find it very annoying that depositing by debit card is only possible on the website and not on the app.  It is a faff to have to have a code sent to you to login when all you want to do is give them some money.  Overkill.

No, it is deposit by Direct Debit facility, whose revival AlwaysLearning helpfully reported, available only (if I'm not mistaken) on very old legacy YBS accounts (in my case, a 15+ year old original Egg Savings account).

I'm reviving this thread as I've a letter from YBS finally announcing that they will cancel all direct debits in and out. Also standing orders by 24 June 2026
