Having a coffee plus toast and marmalade. WM sounds like it's finished swishing so I'll peg that out next. No wind here. There was sun when I pegged out the first load but it's clouded over now. Checked the weather forecast- says it's going to rain from 3pm and all day tomorrow. So I'll get this load out to 'lighten' for a couple of hours 🤞
Then I'll WUDUPA

Second load pegged out - tiny bit of breeze
WULTD
Read my meters. Submitted gas reading online. Checked August bank statement- ooops! I did glance over it when it arrived to make sure there was nothing amiss - receipts filed or added to shredding pile. September receipts filed ready for next statement check.
I'll DUPA next- after I've read a chapter of my book. A friend recommended that I read Pickwick Papers as I enjoyed rereading Great Expectations....not gone on it so far. But I will persevere.

Happy Birthday flamingo x I didn't make the move to the job I really loved until I was 50, but it was so worth it! You might enjoy watching this - maybe not the speaker's confessional bit at the start, but she goes on to make some positive suggestions. Funnily enough, I was thinking that you might like to consider volunteering in a CS
Not a brilliant start to the day here. I was on my 3rd cuppa by the time you lot reached your 2nd! Yesterday evening I did WMx5 (including x3 of bedding and x1 towels) - all on the fast programme - and went to hang everything out at 8.30 this morning, expecting to have 3.5 hours of drying time. Just as I was pegging out the very last thing, the pole of my whirlygig snapped about 9 inches above ground level. I'm not entirely surprised, as my arthritic shoulder makes it hard for me to reach the higher lines, and I have been tugging rather hard. It all landed in a heap, with the duvet cover at the bottom, but fortunately everything else landed on top of the duvet cover, so I only had to re-wash that one item. The whirlygig pole went back into its socket, but of course it's much lower now - I have to duck when I rotate it, to avoid the arms. I decided to dry the two duvet covers (one King, one Double) in the TD, and went to re-hang out all the rest of the washing. As I pegged the last pillowcase on the line, the rain which had been forecast for noon decided tat it wasn't doing anything else right then, so it might as well come round early. Grrrr!!! Now it's all going to have to dry in the TD, as I've brought it back in and am too worn out to dance the hokey-cokey.
After all that, DH was so late getting up that I gave in and got breakfast myself
I have put a large beef bourguignon stew in the SC and have cooked a big pot of bolognese on the hob. Most of them will be frozen in double portions. Tonight we will have our traditional Saturday meal of chicken risotto, using up the last of the cooked chicken, whilst watching Strictly.
DH and I are going out after lunch to do a bit of shopping. Right now he is trying to better Valli by seeing how long he can continue his horizontal "half"-hour. He did get up twice to help me fold the duvet covers...
First, Rosie needs a walk. See you all later xxx

Pots DUPA.
Foil dish washed and recycled.
Dish cloth soaking in bleach.
Tuna mayo sarnies for lunch- using up the last thins in the packet.
Both loads of washing brought it. More or less dry - just a heavy t shirt that's still damp. All now draped on the airer. It can rain heavily from 3 o'clock if it wants to now.
Hugs to all

The rain duly arrived. It's a bit nippy too so I've put the heating on for an hour to take the chill off.
Pizza in the oven and soon be Strictly time. That's Saturday evening sorted.

Evening all.
Well I actually did do some tidying in the garden this morning, enough to make a difference. Other than that just dailies and playing. We were out with both girls this afternoon at an event just as the heavens opened. They girls loved it, splashed in the puddles and had a great time but got so so wet that we had to pop to a shop to get them new dry clothes. So that was today's budget busted!
We have a quiet day planned tomorrow before DGD2 arrives for her sleepover.Spend less now, work less later.7 -
Valli - Belated Happy Birthday wishes
Narco - Sorry to hear your sad news.
HB - I planted a tree this week! Only an apple seed which was already sprouted when it came out the apple, but I've always wanted to grow an apple tree and it seems to be very happy growing in with my lemon balm on my bedroom windowsill. I'm going to nickname it robin now in memory of the big tree.Flamingo - I agree with you about the NHS funding. I'm in the middle of reading "Critical" by Dr Julia Grace Patterson about why the NHS is being betrayed and how we can fight for it. I've borrowed it from the library and my blood is boiling reading some of it. Also Happy Birthday for today! When I turned 40 I thought that was it and until this month nothing had changed. I'm in a lot of debt, a self-employed job which barely covers groceries so I rely on benefits to pay bills, my health has been on a steady decline since 2011-ish, then it decided to cliff jump this year. I'm 45 in January, my female health issues which stopped me working a "normal" job are done with, now I just need to recover from the surgery to get rid of them then I'm hoping to start out with some voluntary work in a local charity shop to get me back into the routine of going out somewhere and having a boss if my side hustle sewing business doesn't take off as I haven't had a paid job outside of self-employment since 1999 and prior to that I was in education so only had part time jobs - and none of those businesses are in business now! It's never too late, but make the moves to get things going now if you can! The plans I had back in 2009 when I turned 30 never came to fruition, I revised them heavily due to my health being so bad when turning 40 and they became that I just wanted to see my son graduate university. Now I have 5 years until my 50th, and by then I plan to have at least half my debts paid off, and to have a normal job on top of my "side hustles" or my sewing business to be doing so well I can drop my current main job which I have hated since I started it in 2011 (As a single mum with little experience my employment options were limited). I'm not thinking about the roof over my head by that point as there's too many variables I have no control over but I'm pretty sure my landlord of 20 years so far won't kick me out unless they absolutely have no other choice.I've already started today with trying to get things into place to make it happen - I used to be REALLY organised, my house was spotless and I cooked almost everything from scratch including weekly baking, so today I made a meal plan and an inventory of my food so I know what I have in. Tomorrow I'll take another baby step towards being more organised so that when I do start working full time again (whether that's volunteering or just my normal work) I have systems in place which can support me and keep me on track. I'd say to support my family but there's only me and the older dog, and unless my son ends up moving back home again (which nether of us want - we love each other, but we can't live together any more lol) I can't see that changing for a long time.
So this week hasn't gone to plan! Does it ever???
Tuesday - Expecting son to show up Wednesday I took a "rest" day. I spent the entire day doing sewing repairs, laundry, wrote my shopping list and had an early night.
Wednesday - Text from son first thing that he wasn't feeling too well, couldn't get warm and was full of snot so wouldn't be round first thing like planned. I placed my work order and paid some bills, finished off some sewing, spoke to son on the phone as he'd just had a spooky moment so wanted reassuring everything was okay and then at 5pm I got a text - he's tested positive for C0vid again. So he's isolating in his room (so he doesn't share it with the rest of his flatmates. He has food & drink in his room and an en-suite) and can't make it round as planned and doesn't know if he'll manage my hospital appointment next week. So that night I worked out a grocery delivery that would cover me for at least a week, coming to just over £40 with MrA, and I booked that for Thursday. I then spent the evening dusting the livingroom with one of those disposable dusting head things that son ended up not using in his bedroom after asking for them. I can definitely see the appeal of them, but I miss being able to stretch and climb with my damp microfibre cloth lol
Thursday - Grocery delivery arrived and the fella brought it inside as requested, and I managed to put it away eventually. Then I used the microfibre mop to quickly swish over the downstairs floors to collect the dust/dog hair bunnies that were T-Rex size, then I used my litter picker to pick the stuff up to bin, and a baby-wipe stomped on to get the crumby bits. If there's a way to do something, I will find it! That wore me out so I sat on my backside and did nothing then lol
Friday - My last jab was had so the nurse took everything with her and I celebrated a little. I cleaned the bath out as it was very slippery, changed my bed (using a flat instead of fitted sheet for the bottom as I struggle usually putting it on and I'm not risking an alien moment with my wound), then chilled out again as I that wore me out. Come 8pm I finally went for the shower I'd planned to have on Wednesday and took great delight in not having to put the surgical stockings back on!
Today I've washed up, submitted meter readings, meal planned (just a list of meals I can make with what's in), and took in my work delivery. Now I've just noticed the time I think I'll head to bed.Tomorrow I need to sort out my bullet journal. It's not been updated since the 18th August and although I've had almost nothing to track through September there's still a few things I want recorded, then I'll be setting October up. Now my belly feels better when I'm sat at my desk I may actually be able to get on with some paperwork this upcoming week. Up until today it's been too painful to sit at the desk for any length of time, and putting my laptop anywhere else would mean trailing wires which is not a good idea when the dogs only form of exercise at the moment if playing fetch in the livingroom.Right, bedtime...with a physical book until 9.30 I think. I'm not making the mistake of reading my library book on my phone again. I was awake for hours when I last did that.
Creeping back in for accountability after falling off the wagon in 2016.Need to get back to old style in modern ways, watching the pennies and getting stuff done!6 -
@nicki_2 thank you for your kindness, it really helps to know I'm not alone with these feelings. I also billet journal, though very inconsistently. I have lots of things from this year to stick in and make spreads forMarried 40y.o. mum of an autistic 11y.o. Carer/SAHM.
