Why are heat pump topics banished to this section of the forum?

This part of the forum is titled
LPG, heating oil, solid & other fuels
If your home is powered by anything that's NOT mains gas or electricity, this is the place to find help and support.
Why are topics on heat pumps moved here?
Why would you look here for topics on heat pumps?
My heat pump is powered by mains electricity, why would I come to a section of the forum for advice or topics on heat pumps when it says it is for homes powered by anything other than mains gas or electricity?
Surely either this section of the forum needs renaming or heat pump topics should be in the main section?
Or is the forum trying to hide topics on heat pumps. the forum is anti heat pump?

I’ve always been puzzled by this too. I’m not sure the main energy channel is the right place either though- it gets so many posts already. I think there is maybe scope for renaming the Green & Ethical Moneysaving Board to include reference to renewable tech. You could then put heat pumps there which will complement its existing content and then add a link through to it from the energy board in the same way you get to this section?Smart Tech Specialist with Octopus Energy Services (all views my own). 4.44kW SW Facing in-roof array with 3.6kW Givenergy Gen 2 Hybrid inverter and 9.5kWh Givenergy battery. 9kW Panasonic Aquarea L (R290) ASHP. #gasfree since July ‘230

Maybe.
I think that right now heat pumps are as relevant as nsh, both powered by electricity.
I am not sure heat pumps belong in green and ethical either, they are just an electric powered heat source.
The main energy section has all sorts in it.
Just picking on one current topic at random.
'Has anyone tried secondary glazing?'
What has that got to do with heating by mains gas or electricity?

I think ASHP should be in the main energy thread as gas boiler and NSH chat is always in there.2 -

I feel quite strongly that both the benefits and downsides of heat pumps need discussing generally. Whether you want one or not it is an important subject and will become more so as time goes by.
Hiding them away in parts of a forum that I don't think many people visit is not helpful.

I have done that.
This is the second time I have raised this issue with them.0 -

I said that I didn't think cosy was suitable for heat pumps, I don't think it is suitable for her home either.1 -

Spoonie_Turtle said:Very much agree, especially as they are becoming more common and people will be viewing properties that already have them - having them normalised and seeing threads about them (rather than having to come and hunt for them in a separate subforum) might help educate people who would otherwise run a mile.
It's hardly intuitive putting them here when the title isLPG, heating oil, solid & other fuelsIf your home is powered by anything that's NOT mains gas or electricity, this is the place to find help and support.
Why would you even think of coming to this part of the forum with that title?2 -
I didn't realise that they were sending posts here for heat pumps. This subforum doesn't seem the logical place as its effectively off grid fossil/solid fuels here. Not electricity powered heat pumps.I am an Independent Financial Adviser (IFA). The comments I make are just my opinion and are for discussion purposes only. They are not financial advice and you should not treat them as such. If you feel an area discussed may be relevant to you, then please seek advice from an Independent Financial Adviser local to you.2
