Why are heat pump topics banished to this section of the forum?

I don't think anyone ever actually looks at the titles to see if they accurately reflect the content. The forum gets redesigned every couple of years but the content titles always stay exactly the same.Reed0

I was tempted to ‘rebel’ and post about ASHP in the main forum, but then thought better of it. They would likely move it anyway .0

Agree it makes no sense, I find the various discussions about heat pumps tend to be quite interesting reads and will be getting one of my own at some later stage.Would have never have thought to look here in the section for discussions about “anything that's NOT mains gas or electricity” if not for the fact that one day I was specifically searching for your thread on noise limits and planning permission after it disappeared from the main energy board. Either this category title/description should be updated to include heat pumps or they should be permitted in the main area, considering they are powered by mains electricity after all.Or perhaps they could even have their own section if there’s enough posts being made on them? I’d say heat pumps could certainly be an in-depth enough topic to allow for it especially as they gain popularity.Moo…1

It's quite odd that we can discuss a kitchen skylight, not heating the home etc etc.
How is not heating the home and saving thousands a topic that belongs in the section regarding home powered and heated by gas and electricity, that home home is heated by anything and it is not powered by mains electricity.
But something actually relevant and powered by mains electricity is hidden away here.0 -

Hello - just confirming this is on our radar and I'll be discussing with the team soon, and asking for the input of the Ambassadors to get their thoughts.
I've also been thinking a bit about whether there's a better way of organising supplier-specific threads vs ones about energy-saving and energy use more generally, but that needs a bit more work (and there's a couple of ways that this could be achieved).Official MSE Forum Team member. Please report all problem posts to forumteam@moneysavingexpert.com1 -

"Use the main board for electricity and gas".
Heat pumps are electric. They belong on the main board.
Storage heaters don't get moved into this subforum so why should heat pumps?!2
