Yes I was a volunteer educator with my dog Katie (the real Katiehound) working for the Blue Cross. I used to take my hound into schools & youth groups teaching about responsible pet ownership, the history of the Blue Cross & animals in wartime (mainly Dickin medal winners)
We worked on the charity stand at Crufts & Discover Dogs
She was also a PAT dog & we did Reading Therapy too.
I loved going into school & the children enjoyed meeting my dog & stroking her. Unfortunately I lost her at only aged 9 and I carried on going into schools but it wasn't the same! My next dogs were not interested in doing that or being PAT dogs.
As a PAT dog we used to go into local hospital & care homes.Being polite and pleasant doesn't cost anything!

@Brambling I only spend an hour or so a day with housework. Its lovely having time to take your time and I like doing the plug holes properly by unscrewing them and doing the filter on washing machine and cleaning the fridge freezer.
After 30 years of not really having the time its lovely to have house sparkling especially with mortgage all paid. 2 years ago when i first retired I started off doing a lot of walking but was worried i would wear my knees and hips out and not be able to get them done quickly with the state of NHS. So only walk twice a week mostly.
I get up at 8 now and have a proper breakfast and go on MSE for a bit then do my hour housework then make dinner then have a watch of bargain hunt. Then in afternoon just potter about until tea then MSE again for an hour then read my library books til bed.
3 days a week i look after elderly relative. This is not as a paid carer as i dont want to have to look after them. If you know what i mean I dont want to be employed but happy to spend time with them on my terms. I think this is the most I have ever posted. I dont want to learn any new skills and just happy to be free and take joy in simple things now21k savings no debt13 -

@kimwp maybe when the timing is right, think about hosting a PAT dog? I work in a children's hospital and we have a golden lab called Holly who is so empathetic with our patients & families. If you are stood talking to her handler, she sits on your feet 😍2021 Decluttering Awards: ⭐⭐🥇🥇🥇🥇🥇🥇 2022 Decluttering Awards: 🥇
