Hey lovely visitors - hope you’ve all had a nice Saturday!Ours has been quite gentle, restful, but also productive in many ways. This morning was basically pottering - I tried out the patterns I had found for crocheted Christmas wreaths and trees - very cute and I’ll definitely be making more! A reduced price bagel each for breakfast, and lunch was based around salad from the TGTG bag along with the smoked mackerel bought at last week’s farmer’s market. Ran a load of washing this morning and chanced getting it on the line for a couple of hours - which would have been more successful without the sudden unforcast heavy downpour mid way through! It did actually get pretty close to dry in the end though - and ultimately the less moisture we can bring into the house, the better. Brought in more logs and some kindling to replace what we used last night - and restocking some more of the logs to keep them as undercover as possible.Wandered out this afternoon for a collection of a small DIY order, and for MrEH to get his paper, then when we got back turned out attention to sorting out the spare room and getting some stuff moved up to the loft. Nice to start to feel we’re getting sorted there. So the headboard onto the bed, a few boxes shifted out and some more stuff allocated to places on shelves. This evening has mostly involved watching the rugby - well done to South Africa.MSE Stuff:
- a car free day - we didn’t have much to get out and about so decided just to walk.
- using budget options for breakfast and lunch
- getting washing even mostly dry outside
- banks checked and all good
- free exercise by walking to run errands
- a bit of foraging on the way back as we found a very productive sweet chestnut tree!Spendiness:
- £14 on a tube of ready to use grout - there is a small piece of tile trim loose in the bathroom, and a few places where tiles need regrouting and we felt we wanted to get that done sooner rather than later. That might be a job for tomorrow.- Some personal spends on a few beers each in H0me B@rgains - so cash neutral for the household budget.
- picked up the two round-pinned plugs we had ordered so we could convert the two lamps in the front room to work off the wall switch - job done as soon as we got home with them too so another small task ticked off!- £2.70 in F00d w@rehouse on a couple of bottles of the yogurt & mint dressing we love (and use lots of!)
nothing much planned for tomorrow - I think I’ll set a load of washing to run first thing though as there might be a window of opportunity some line drying very first thing. We also want to pop down to one of the big charity shops in the town as there is a nest of tables that might suit our purposes quite well - we need some small tables to use in the front room. Going to do the planned venison & bacon stew - half of which will be topped off with suet crust pastry for dinner tomorrow, the other half will probably be saved to eat during the week or freeze. And now - I’m ready for bed I think! Remember clocks change tonight too - although most stuff changes automatically these days doesn’t it!🎉 MORTGAGE FREE (First time!) 30/09/2016 🎉 And now we go again…New mortgage taken 01/09/23 🏡

Nice bargain beer buying, anything exciting?
Hope the nest tables are still there for you when you get there tomorrow.
I will spend all of tomorrow being a typical Brit constantly saying 'but is that the actual time' regardless of any technology or having changed the clock myself 😁

Well PiP my brain is doing precisely what I expected it to and insisting that it is REALLY a quarter to eight so it’s entirely right that I should be up and active…sigh! I did try to see if I would drift off to sleep again, but nope.Beers - a random Christmas pudding and custard stout (yes - this was entirely bought out of curiosity!) from a brewery I had never heard of, and two Siren beers - a guava tropical pale and a YuLu. We like Siren stuff - had their glorious Broken Dream breakfast stout on our bar at the festival the year it won Champion Beer of Britain - I drank rather a lot of it that year, purely in the interests of quality control of course - had to make sure it was spot on before we started selling it! 😆
So having got up I discovered that I should have just left the thermostat to do it’s thing last night as it had altered itself, and because I’d already fiddled with the time last night too that means it probably put the heating on about an hour ago. I mean it’s a decent result in one way as the living room is lovely and cosy - it probably did contribute to me waking up though. Slightly irritated that its own instruction book suggested that this would not be the case mind you! The washing machine however I must have got correct as that is now showing 10 minutes to go - although this is ten “washing machine minutes” of course, so it will probably really take at least half an hour. I’m now trying to think which clocks we have that need altering - the oven of course, but it’s two early for me to do the mental gymnastics that remembering how that adjusts will require. Then two clocks in the front room - both simple.enough. I think everything else sorts itself out - aside from MrEH’s car which history suggests he will leave alone to see if I can be bothered to change for him. 🤣
On the subject of MrEH is seems his brain has done the same thing as mine as he too has just appeared and is now fiddling with the coffee machine. He did just spot a great spotted woodpecker in one of the trees just behind the garden though - so that’s nice!🎉 MORTGAGE FREE (First time!) 30/09/2016 🎉 And now we go again…New mortgage taken 01/09/23 🏡

Ooh, lovely to see a woodpecker!
I've given up with both cars. As of yesterday, one was 2 hours out, and the other right, so now they'll both be an hour out, but in different directions 🙄 Also, aside from the hour being wrong, one is a few minutes ahead, and the other a few minutes behind. Evidence suggests that I will do precisely nothing about this shambolic mess 😂😂6 -
Lol @Cheery_Daff I’m hoping the car will sort itself and I’ve never bothered with the oven as it gets switched off at the switch after use.Hope you manage to nab the tables.LTotal Debt Dec 07 £59875.83 Overdrafts £2900,New Debt Figure ZERO !!!!!!:j 08/06/2013

Same EH, I have no idea how long I've been up, baffled 😂
Beers sound exciting, I still havent tried Broken Dream but I'm a big fan of Yulu4 -
Changing the clocks either forwards or backwards is always befuddling. I haven't changed my watch yet and was perplexed when the church bells were ringing for 10.30 mass and I was sure it was already 11.30. I haven't been out to the car yet but I'm hoping that it might have changed the time by itself. It seems to have electronic beeps, bells and whistles for all the stuff I never knew I needed so perhaps the basics of the right time will also be dealt with automatically.
MrBC has just wandered in and asked if it's really 12.40 and should we have lunch?
