Ooh, interesting that you're shifting from Agile. I was just looking at ours the other day. We don't do much conscious load shifting, as you know - because of our normal activities we're just naturally a bit more spread out over the day. Looks like we've had four days in the last month where it's been cheaper than the tariff I compare it to (April 2023 I think?), and over the month we've been about £10 more expensive.
I'm going to stick it out for now, partly hoping it'll even itself out, and partly because I have barely any spare brain space to even think about it properly right now. I'll see if there's a more up to date tariff i can compare ours to, and will report back on whether you're missing out 😂

Right, I'm comparing it to the Feb 2025 16 month fix now. Obviously it won't remotely resemble yours as our usage pattern is so different, but still, at least I'll know what I'm missing out on 😂4

I've still saved (just) over the last month, and saved a lot since I've been on Agile, but it's hard to work out as the load shifting I do for Agile means I use it differently from how I'd use Flux. Like Cheery, I'm hoping it will balance out. Right now, 3 hours at 15.34p would be nice BUT that's not long enough for a white wash or the DW, so I'd either be drawing from the grid before charging or running down the battery after leaving me exposed to drawing from the grid at standard rate (25.57p or peak rate (35.8p). My average unit cost is still below Flux standard rate, so I think it makes sense to stick... although we're getting close to parity!4

If we had a battery then I'm extremely confident that we would still be able to make a saving - but without it's just too difficult without having to really impact on quality of life. And of course without the various qualifiers we don't qualify for any of the other tariffs that could in theory help either - it's either Agile (or tracker) or a fix of back to the variable.
I've got very little doubt that we may well jump back on to Agile at some stage down the line though - when it's good, it's unquestionably good, and then the load shifting becomes worthwhile.
I messaged our electrician yesterday and he got back to me nice and fast, and is visiting on Friday to have a look at the odds and ends we want done and then quote us. We've not started a list of bits and pieces so hopefully we can get a few bits done all at the same time and make it worth it for all of us! Some bits are "needed" - two failing dimmer switches - both the ones that you push in to turn on/off - which we want to get exchanged for the ones that you turn and click to switch on and off, a new outside light for the front door - we'll buy the light and Lee will then fit it for us, and the key quality of life thing which is replacing the LED lights under the cabinets in the kitchen so we actually have some decent light to work by without having to put all the overhead spots on!
In other financial stuff I am waiting for my £300 insurance excess to come back to me which is good news - as we have long since forgotten about it being paid out we are probably going to shuffle that across to my pension I think.🎉 MORTGAGE FREE (First time!) 30/09/2016 🎉 And now we go again…New mortgage taken 01/09/23 🏡
