Yet they expect a much higher take-up this time round - perhaps they're hoping the wider audience will outweigh the ones who'll not think it worth the effort.0

It's not the money, it's the challenge.

Fair enough. If it were just me, or with the addition of a similarly-minded partner, I'd probably feel similarly (and would enjoy feeling like I'm contributing to an effort for a purpose, too).QrizB said:Spoonie_Turtle said:Yet they expect a much higher take-up this time round - perhaps they're hoping the wider audience will outweigh the ones who'll not think it worth the effort.I participated last time and my total returns over the entire winter were under £2.I'm planning on participating this time, too. I have not read the docs but will the suppliers come up with something fancy at their end if uptake is low?
If they bid and get £3 per kWh saved its in their interest to make it worthwhile?
Or perhaps I have that all wrong.0 -
I get the impression there’s going to be a lot more publicity this time around with a bigger “marketing” push for the scheme, with participating suppliers also now being required to promote the scheme. If I recall, each supplier will, as a minimum, have to have a dedicated webpage for DFS with further communications to consumers strongly encouraged.Spoonie_Turtle said:Yet they expect a much higher take-up this time round - perhaps they're hoping the wider audience will outweigh the ones who'll not think it worth the effort.Whether or not that’ll actually get more people involved is hard to tell - supposedly people making full use of the IDA were a minority to begin with but with the rewards now being unaltered many from last year might well not bother.
I’ll probably still give it a go myself where possible, but as a low user with minimal use over peak times anyway I’m not expecting more than around 30p per event on a good day.Moo…1 -
I've never been invited

On this subject I noticed something not ticked on my smart meter preferences with Octopus so I ticked it knowing it's probably essential for this DFS scheme.

Yes that is where I am at for this winter. For a couple of quid I bust a gut last year, but for pennies meeh. And if we only get to know on the day, it is a little difficult to re-gig my largest leccy usage at peak-time (cooking) if stuff is being defrosted for the meal according to menu for the day. No big deal. Some of us over at Eon Next got a taste of these new conditions at the latter part of last winter wnen the event reward parameters were changed by the company.TheElectricCow said:I’ll probably still give it a go myself where possible, but as a low user with minimal use over peak times anyway I’m not expecting more than around 30p per event on a good day.0 -
DFS, i guess the sale is over?
If the energy company has a successful bid at a higher unit rate than they pass on to their participants then they make money - that would be somewhat at odds with them trying to market the sessions under the guise of a service message to customers.
Even at the "enhanced" rates possible last year I'm sure a lot of people would have generated disharmony amongst family. For pennies I suspect uptake won't be what they are expecting.

I doubt it costs them nothing to run these events so some will be running costs.Lorian said:DFS, i guess the sale is over?

But yes as said earlier.in.the post I expect they will add some.enticements.along.with.the pennies.0
